I am a teacher, and during the school year my mom watches Allie during the day. She also helps when I have doctor's appointments, workshops, etc. on days I have off.
Well, since my sister is in the hospital, and my mom is staying around the clock with her. I have to start a 2-week workshop on July 6 and I do not know what I am going to do with Allie! I know it seems far away...but they still have no idea when she will be released, and I feel awful throwing Allie on her as soon as they get back home...they need recovery time too. Anyways, all other family members who live here work, and some of my friends who could do it live like 45 minutes in the other direction..so I am at a loss.
Any of you have an idea...what do you in this situation?
Re: Emergency child care!
Wow, I have no idea!! But I hope you're able to figure out something soon.
Does your church have daycare? Maybe you can set up something temporary with them? Or find out if anyone does in home day care that you can get a temporary arrangement with.
What about a mother's day out program? I'm not sure if those can be all day or every day either.
Would the available consider meeting you at a halfway point between you? I always like to think I could do anything temporarily. If you take advantage of several friends you could set up a schedule so that no one of them have to do it everyday or several days in a row.
I'm just throwing things out there, hope this helps some!
Could you call some of the local daycares and explain your situation and see if they would allow Allie to come for 2 weeks? Do you have any friends that use an at home daycare and you could possible talk to them?
My mom watches my 2 nieces and my sister would have problems like this sometimes and it really put her in a bind.
That is tough!! DD is going to Riverchase United Methodist Church on T, W and Th for their summer MDO program - it runs through July. They might still have some openings - oh and they have a "stay and play" option that would let you keep her late for just an hourly fee. Let me know if you want any more information. Good luck and I hope your sister gets better soon.
