Isabelle vs. Isabella

We have decided our LO's name will be either one of these variations of Isabel.

She will be named for my grandmother who was very dear to me and emmigrated here from Italy in the 50's. Her name was changed from Isabella to Isabelle.

She went by either name.

I love them both but DH wants Isabelle and I think Isabella is more feminine.

Drawbacks: Isabella is the #1 name now

                  Isabelle might get confused with Isabella anyway

Thoughts?

Her mn is going to Anne, if that helps...

    I agree I like Isabella the best it's more feminine, but yes is popular.

    I'd go with DH... isabelle. Isabella is not more femine, they are almost the same. So if that is your reason, it's not a valid argument.

    Have you thought about nicknames?

    My brother has an isabella, we call her ella.

    I guess I feel like the -a makes it more girly, but not really the reason I would name her Isabella

    NN my DH wants Izzy (not a huge fan)....love ella as a NN thanks!!

    Isabelle (or Isabel) hands down! For some reason, I love this name but can't stand Isabella. I think Isabella sounds too cutesy or something, and I also hate the nn Bella (or Izzy).

    We just named our DD Isabel (after my aunt) and so far have had very few problems with people confusing her with Isabella, if that helps you.  And my mom has been calling her Elle as a nn (we prefer just Isabel for us).

    Both names are beautiful.  Isabella sounds a bit more regal to me but it is also trendier.

    I like Isabelle Ann, it sounds and looks beautiful. I hate that Twilight has made Bella (Isabella) such a novelty of a name.

    this... i like the name isabelle not so much isabella..... im a twilight fan but the name bugs the heck out of me

    I like Isabelle. It's still sounds pretty without sounding trendy.
