High-Risk Pregnancy

XP: From 3rd tri (High BP/Low BloodCount)

So.. my appointment is tomorrow to find out if OB is scheduling our induction for Saturday for my BP. BUT his aide called me today and let me know that my blood count is LOW.. (She couldn't even tell me HOW low) Just that I need to be taking my iron 3x daily instead of 1x.. is that a big difference? Also I have no idea how blood counts "get low" could this be because of my high BP? Will they now hold off on the induction and try something else?? or is this now significantly more detrimental to me and baby?? Any info/advice would be appreciated!'

Re: XP: From 3rd tri (High BP/Low BloodCount)

  • Anemia can occur in pregnancy without other problems, but low levels of platelets and red blood cells does occur with HELLP.  I'd ask your doctor to show you the numbers on the lab report at your appointment.  The labs reports usually have your number plus low/high numbers for normal levels of the test.  I feel better looking at the numbers.
