Babies: 0 - 3 Months

too late for birth announcements? and wording??

LO is 8 weeks old today... I really want to do birth announcements but the time just kind of got away from me. Is it too late? I thought I could write something about how we've been enjoying our time w/ him, etc but can't come up with wording for it? Any ideas?

Re: too late for birth announcements? and wording??

  • LO is 6 weeks as of yesterday and I'm just doing mine today haha  I didn't add any reference to them being so late because I'm sure people will assume it's because we've been busy with a new baby :)

  • I created mine on tinyprints.com the week DS was born, but I have yet to order or send them either!  I am curious to see what others think.  If I do send them, I'm not going to include any late disclaimer.

  • I just ordered mine yesterday and DS is 7.5 weeks. I felt behind, but I looked up etiquette on it and basically what I found was anytime before 6 months but preferably as soon as possible after birth.

  • I don't think it's too late, within the first 3 months is pretty standard.
  • Oh good! That makes me feel better. Thanks girls!

  • I sent mine out when LO was 7 weeks old.  No need to add a disclaimer, they will know you have been busy.  I think anything within the first 3 months is fine.

  • I just ordered mine yesterday at DS is 11 weeks old! I also made them into cards so they could be thank you notes as well since I hadn't done those either since he came 4 weeks early! No worries I am sure they will be appreciated whenever you send them out and like previous posts have said we have been very busy and everyone will understand

  • If you want to send them, send them!  I'm sure your fam would enjoy some pics of your LO =)

  • I sent mine when LO was almost 3 months!  I didn't care.   I didn't have a pic of DD that I loved and as everyone knows - the time just gets away from you.  Obviously all of our family and friends had seen the baby but so many others did not and were happy to have gotten the annoucement.  Plus it was fun creating it.

We got ours at Tiny Prints and they have the cutest selection!  It was so hard to chose!

    Have fun with it!

  • I own a birth announcement business, and trust me, 8 weeks is not too late! I sent out my own at 2 1/2 months, and most of my orders are between 1-3 months. I get the occasional 4 or 5 month card, but 2 months is about average.

I would not bother with any special wording.
