Babies on the Brain

Whoa whoa whoa- labor progress/raspberry leaf tea question.

Someone wrote this to one of my pregnant friends on her facebook:

"I recommend Red Raspberry Leaf tea- I drank it 5 times a day starting in the eighth month, it makes your contractions more productive. I was dilated by 35 weeks and delivery only lasted 40 minutes. It's decaffinated and if you add a tsp of sugar it's really good. Hope you're feeling okay!"  My friend isn't due till October, and had written a status about just wanting to drink warm tea so she could sleep better, but that she'd be up all night then peeing and what not.  I'm not sure what the raspberry chick is getting at by telling her to drink the raspberry leaf tea, and why would you start trying to make progress before 37 weeks anyway?

  • Like her 5 times a day?  :o)

Maybe so, I haven't done much research on how to bring on contractions, I just thought it was weird that she started working on that so early.

  • I've heard mixed reviews, but I think the owt is in excess, too.

  • Raspberry leaf tea is great for strengthening the uterine muscles and if you have a little bit of it through out pregnancy, it's great. That much seems excessive.
