Girls names

Julia Elisabeth

Josie Elisabeth

Leah Elisabeth

Which do you like?

Also, I am drawn more toward Julia, but DH is hung up on the fact that he thinks people with shorten the name and call her Julie or Jules.  I don't think that will happen.  I definitely dont think people would call her Julie. . . Jules maybe, but probaby when she becomes older if she likes that.  I think Julia and Julie are two separate names.  WDYT?

Re: Girls names

  • I like them all but Leah is the only one on my potential list of names. I think to put them in order, Leah would be my favorite followed by Julie, then Josie.

  • Julia ... love it!

I wouldn't be concerned about people shortening it to Julie.

  • I like Julia the best and I thinks it fits the best with Nolan (not that you asked).

You may just have to be firm in your wishes that she be called Julia if people try to shorten it.

  • I like all of them. Julia and Julie are 2 different names. Although people do interchange them, a simple correction will suffice (I have one of these names, so I speak from experience!)

I really like Leah, that has really grown on me in the past month.

  • I'm not a fan of J names...there are way too many in my family. I really like Leah - its pretty.
  • Julia- I would not be at all concerned with it being changed to Julie- I agree with you, they are two distinct names.

  • I'm partial to Julia Elizabeth (and Julia is my name).  Just to side with your husband, as a kid, my entire family called me Julie, as did everyone I met until I went to college!  Then I went by Julia, and I still do now.

As far as nicknames, I got Jul mostly, as well as Juls/Jules.

  • I love Leah!

Then Julia and Josie 3rd. I was an avid Archie reader and Josie was a character in the comics. If of course you want your DD to be a rock star Josie is perfect :P

  • I like all of them, but Julia is my favorite.

I agree Julie and Julia are very different (I much prefer Julia) but I have a friend named Julia and so many people, including her twin sister, call her Julie - so, you never know.

  • I have a friend names Julia... I have never even considered calling her Julie.  (Jules yes, but never Julie)

That said, I think I like Leah best of all your name choices.

  • Not a fan of Julia. And I've known several, and all were often called "Jules" as a nn.

I adore Josie! Josie Elisabeth is beautiful!

  • Julia will be commonly called Julie or Jules unless she gets adamant about it herself. You're of course welcome to call her Julia all her life. Every Julia I know doesn't really care what she's called (I default to Julie) except one who insisted on Julia for a while but now accepts Jules (I refuse to use that one).

If you go with Josie, I suggest naming her Josephine but nicknaming her Josie.

I've never had a problem with Leah. Frankly, I've never had a problem with any of these names, just putting in my 2c.

  • Julia

My name is Julia.  I do get called Julie at times, which bothers me, unless it's family.  I get called Jules, too, which I don't mind.

  • Julia. I don't understand people's concern with their children's names being shortened against their will. People will call a child whatever the child tells them is his/her name.
