clicky poll about parking

Re: clicky poll about parking

  • I'm a special snowflake... it would depend on if I was pg or not and felt safe in the neighborhood or not, but I would like either do across the street or in the same building.

  • I'd pay the extra dollar a day and park under the building I worked in - I would hate to have to deal with the weather... rain, snow, heat, etc.  I'd just take it out of my food/coffee budget.

  • Between being a student and teaching, I parked at UC for the better part of 10 years and I almost always did the on-street parking.

I had a professor when I was a grad student that cancelled class at least 5 times because he couldn't find a parking stop.

Wow, what a crock! I would have been pissed. If it was a matter of finding a parking spot or being late to a class I was supposed to teach I would always suck it up and pay to park.

  • oh, well he was tenured so he didn't care.  It was so annoying showing up for class only to have the department secretary come in to tell us that he wasn't coming.  If I'd paid for my master's I would have been really pissed.

now, why I went on to later chose him to be my thesis chair... that is another mystery of life.  He missed a lot of our scheduled meetings, I suppose because he couldn't find a place to park.

  • I would only have to pay 1 dollar a day to park in a lot across the street from my building......and I still park on the street and save my money.  Talk about a cheapskate!  It adds up!

  • We have to pay for parking a year at a time, and our lots are not up against our buildings, so I have no choice about walking in the weather, pregnant or not.  I probably wouldn't pay the extra to park under our building unless I was pregnant, then heck yea I'd pay the extra.  I probably wouldn't risk not having a guaranteed place to park just because with my luck there'd be nowhere to park when I needed it.

Are you someone who knows how to get somewhere at the exact right time (and never ever early) or be a little late?

DH is.  When he worked at UC, he purchased the pass.  This way he could always get a spot and not worry about that element of his travels...

  • I'm a "special snowflake."  I work at UC and I pay to park in an uncovered lot that is 5 blocks from my building.  It is a lot cheaper than paying per day or per month for a garage pass, but I like knowing that I have a spot for those days when I am pressed for time, esp. now that I have daycare dropoff, etc.  Before having DS I never paid for parking in Clifton!
