So I get to work this morning and one of my co-workers comes by and tells me that so-and-so from the company next door came over and asked her "Who owns the gray Mazda? She's pregnant blah blah blah..." Co-worker tells her it's me and DH. So-and-so from next door claims to co-worker that I hit her car with my door and dinged up her new paint job. Co-worker tells so-and-so that she'll let me know. Not recalling anything like that happening, DH and I go outside and none of our doors come close to either of the cars beside us, so we're totally confused.
I'm starting to wonder if this could have been something that happened last week and she is just now inquiring about it? What would you do in this situation? I certainly don't remember hitting anyone and I'm a little bothered by the fact that she's relaying all this info through my co-worker, instead of coming directly to me.
Update: So-and-so came over to my office and asked if I was the owner of the gray Mazda3, when I said yes, she said "I saw you hit my car this morning" and said she owned the car parked next to mine. Luckily, DH and I had already gone out there earlier and knew our doors cleared, so we just walked out there, unlocked the doors and showed her it wasn't me. She immediately apologized...
Thank goodness that's over and it wasn't my fault!
Re: Being accused of dinging someone's car... :::Updated:::

I don't know who she is, don't even know what car she drives. She works for the title company next door and I guess interacts with our accounting department. I guess that's why she asked my co-worker who I was. But, once she found out she could have easily walked down the hall to my office and talk to me.
This is how we're set up. We have clients coming in and out all day. It could have been anyone. Unless she physically saw me do it, I'm not sure how she can be sure it was me.
I have a feeling I was parked next to her when she noticed the ding and then maybe saw us get into the car later and just assumed.
This is what I was thinking - who knows when the dings happened and when you were parked next to her. She needs to come and speak to you about it and have some proof that you did it. Totally lame to be going between you and your coworker - I get her doing that to find out the owner of the car, but then she needs to go talk to the owner.
