If you are a substitute teacher and have baby/child that is at a sitter during the day, how do you work out the sitter and substituting? Did you find a sitter that was willing to take them random days of the weeks, some weeks more days than others?
Also- how much do you pay? Did you have problems finding a sitter that was willing to work with your random schedule?
I am a substitute teacher and as of right now, do not have a full time teaching job lined up for next year. We are hoping the following year I will have a full time job! But if not, I will still be subbing, and since we are going to TTC this summer, we were worried about how getting a sitter lined up would work out if I was subbing. We are worried that no one would be willing to watch a child random days and not set days. Thanks ladies!
Re: If you are a substitute teacher with a baby, come in please!!
Yep! Its awesome!! There are a lot of sitters in our area who just watch teachers kids out of their homes, and most range from 3-5/hr. Bad thing is they aren't certified, but we found someone we are comfortable with, so that's all that matters to us. As DS gets older, we might look into more of a center setting, but for now this works well and he still gets interaction w/ other kids.
Ditto. I wouldn't provide childcare for $3.50/hour. Nor would I pay that....it's not even minimum wage. Although they're probably doing it under the table which I wouldn't be ok with either.
Nope, it's legitimate. She is not certified, but does sign off for me for FlexPlan. If you figure, she about 8 kids there, plus her 2, one of which goes to school, the other is preschool. Mine is the littlest by far, the next oldest is 1 year. She has her mother in law helping her, so she does not have all those kids alone. Her husband is a teacher, and they just do it for added income. I figure even splitting it with her mother in law, she still gets $14 an hour, plus can stay at home, and doesn't have to pay her own child care...not too bad. The ratio is not bad, and she actually runs it kind of like her own little center. We feel DS is taken care of, and is happy there...it's cheap for us, and works for her...so it's an all around good situation!
