NBR: Painful Lump In Left Armpit...

Errrgh.

I felt a lump in my left armpit about five days ago.  It has begun to hurt and is starting to turn red so I am 99.9% sure that it is a swollen/infected lymph node.  Is this something I should go to the doctor for or is there something I can do at home to help it go away?

I probably shouldn't put off getting a suspicious lump checked out but getting to appointments is such a pain that I would like to avoid it if possible.  Thanks!

  • Don't you have milk ducts up there? You could try massage and a hot compress/shower to see if it goes away.

  • This happened to me too, you have milk ducts up there that can become clogged. Use a warm compress on your armpit for a few minutes before you nurse, every time, and massage the lump while you're nursing or pumping. If it doesn't go away or you start having flu symptoms, call your doc asap.
