Anyone else experiencing this? Need advice

I am having the WORST indigestion pain overnight.  I feel ok when I go to bed but then around 2-3 AM I am woken up with terrible heartburn and indigestion.  I'm not vomiting and there's no diarrhea, just pain that keeps me up for 2 hours at a time.  I have tried not eating for 4 hour before bed, tried tums, and cutting fatty and caffienated foods out of my diet.  These symptoms are only occurring at night.  It probably feels worse to me because I never really had much indigestion before this.  I know its caused by the hormone but there has to be someway to avoid or alleviate this.

Has anyone else had this problem?  What helped?

  • Sounds like your gallbladder.  Pregnant women tend to have that act up.

If the pain is that bad, call the doctor.
  • The pain is tolerable and temporary, I will talk to the dr about it when I go if its still happening.  My brother has gall bladder issues and he says its on one side of his body, my pain is right in the center. It's most aggravating because I can't sleep through it.  I feel like if I threw up I would feel better but I can't throw up :(

  • I get terrible heartburn daily no matter what I eat. I can take 2 zantac 150mg a day or you could try tums. Thats pregnancy! For me my heartburn has just gotten worse over the weeks. I have had periods where it felt like I wanted to throw up but once my zantac kicked in it went away so it coulda been really bad heartburn! Consult your OB if you are worried.

  • Check with your doctor, definitely!  It could be several different things.

I had my gallbladder out 8 weeks after DD#2 was born and my pain was in the center as well.  Turns out the stones were moving.  The pain came and went as well.

    Good luck!

  • This same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with DS.  The pain was so horrible, I thought something was seriously wrong with me.  The good news is that it only lasted for about a week or so.

  • Mine was middle pain too.  Gallbadder = gone now.
  • If its heartburn, maybe don't eat right before bed.  Give yourself more time to digest before you lay down.  I think TUMS is safe too.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • Thanks ladies, hopefully I'll be like Lissa832 and it will only last a week or so.  Zantac might be a good option too.  I am scheduling an appt tomorrow.
  • it might sound too simple to work, but try eating a slice or 2 of apple. My husband had bad heartburns one night and I looked up the internet to see what I could give him to make him feel better and they said to eat a slice of apple. It worked for him. They say not all kinds of apples work. Look it up the internet, youll see, you have nothing to loose to try anyway... ;)

  • I would definitely inquire with your Dr. about a potential gallbladder issue.  I had what I thought was terrible heartburn and my Drs kept medicating that and tested for ulcers.  It turned out it was gallstones and I was suffering from pancreatitis.  Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
  • I found some relief!  I grabbed an oversized couch pillow and tucked it under my normal pillow, and made myself sleep on my back (I am a stomach sleeper).  No problems whatsoever last night...hoping this keeps up :)
