How old is your baby? A few weeks? Thats way too young IMO. Let her tell you when she's hungry and tired.
LO still isn't on a strict schedule. She's fallen into a routine of sorts on her own though.
Like PP said. I have DD on a routine of eat, activity, sleep. During the day she usually lasts 3 hours from the start of one feed to the other but sometimes goes shorter or longer. Usually after the dinner feed ( anywhere between 5 and 7) she will eat one more time like an hour or two after and then conk out until 10:30 or so. I don't believe in schedules, but I do believe in routine. I think it is kinda comforting for her to know that after she eats we get to play, then mommy will help her have a little nap, then we will do it all over again. I just can't do the schedule thing of making them eat when they aren't hungry, or waiting until the scheduled time to feed them, etc. But that is just me. I would not like someone telling me when I should eat, sleep, play etc.
I don't do schedules. We do routines and I've noticed they will set their own schedule. DD is still in the brand newborn stage due to her preematurity and she still sleeps a lot.not really awake for long.so we eat and sleep, that's about it.

My lo was getting extremely grumping during the day at random times. I called the ped and she asked a couple of questions but the two that stuck out for me was is she gettting her 10 to 15 min of tummy time (let her cry it's new) a day. Then secondly what do her naps look like. I found out that she should have been taking2, 2 to 3 hour naps during the day. OMG no wonder I thought. Also they said it might sound wierd but once she get's those naps in she'll probably sleep through the night.
Sure enough after 3 days of doing the long naps she slept through the night last night. She's 14 weeks.
We're been trying to get DD on a schedule (schedule and 'routine' are the same to me - I don't get why people make a fuss over the distinction. I'm not going to not feed her b/c it's not "time', I mean, come on....).
Anyway, our Pedi is an advocate too and we aim to feed her every 4 hours or so during the day and let her go longer if she wishes at night. She'll be 4 wks tomorrow. Sometimes she eats every 3 during the day and rarely goes longer than 4 at night - - but the point is we're flexible and working towards a schedule.
Her best day so far she at Midnight, 4, 8, noon, 4, 8.

Because the words mean different things. A schedule means that you are trying to get them to do something at the same time every day(aka, its scheduled)
And, yes, people do actually try to make their child wait eat at the same time instead of listening for their hunger cues. So its not crazy to think someone is talking about that. Read up on Ezo parenting (its what the Duggers do, for example)
