Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Does your baby...

hold their own bottle?  I keep wondering when/if it will happen.  The bottles seem heavy now (7 oz) but I am hopeful that one day they will hold their own!

  • Sometimes he will and sometimes he won't.

  • He can hold it but he can't get it tipped at the right angle to get the milk out, even if he's reclined.  He tries though!

  • She would much rather run her fingers thru my hair.  It's sweet, & it's our lil bonding time.

Please don't take this the wrong way. I had to LOL because my MIL said when my husband was a baby he would do the same thing. One time he got it so tangled, they had to cut her hair to get his hand out! Bond carefully, lol!

  • She can hold it, she just doesn't have the angle right all the time.  She gets the idea but sometimes she'll poke her eye or forehead.
  • DD just started to hold her own bottle last week. and she will hold it every feeding.. DD #1 starting holding it at 6 months. They will hold it when they are ready.
  • Yes my son figured this one out pretty early. He doesn't mess around when it comes to food!

She'll hold it unless she's really tired / sleepy, but you have to help her out toward the end of the bottle, because she can't tip it far enough back by herself. She just started doing this about 2 weeks ago.

  • DD will hold up her bottle under the right circumstances - if DH or FIL is feeding her, only with certain bottles (the shape is easier to hold for her?), and only when the bottle is down to 4 oz. or less so that it's light enough for her to hold up.  She doesn't seem to have the strength yet to hold up the full (5.5 oz) bottles yet.
