Favorite taco dip recipe?

I need one!

Also, please tell me how many "servings" it is for.

TIA!

Re: Favorite taco dip recipe?

  • brown 1.25lb hamburger. drain. add 16oz jar of salsa and 1 packet of taco seasoning.  mix together.

in a 13X9 glass pan, spread 1.5 bricks of cream cheese on the bottom.

    Pour meat mixture on top.

sprinkle 8oz of shredded WHITE sharp cheddar cheese on top (orange cheddar creates too much oil)

bake 350 for about 30 minutes (until cheese is melted and bubbly)

    YUM!

(You can add some jalapenos in there (either in the meat mixture or on top of it (beneath the shredded cheese) if you like it spicy).

My nickname after high school spring break back in 1988 was "Trish The Dish".   Lol.  And I was still a virgin.  For a few more months that is.

  • My mom makes a good one:

In a mixer, blend together one jar of salsa and 2 bricks cream cheese. Spread that in a 13x9 dish. On top, put shredded lettuce, finely chopped green pepper, finely chopped olives, diced tomatoes, can do finely chopped onions - you can really do any veggies you feel like. Put a layer of shredded cheddar on top and serve with tortilla chips.

It's really easy and everybody always loves it.

  • This is always a hit, and a little different than the regular layered taco dip...

In a mixer, beat 8 oz cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, and 1 package taco seasoning until smooth.  Add in a small jar of salsa, and about a cup of shredded cheese (I use colby jack).

These are approximate measurements because I usually just throw it together.  I like to serve it with Fritos scoops because it is a little bit stiff.

I'd say this would serve 10 people.  It is easy to double after you get it made if you don't think it looks like enough, and it keeps for awhile in the fridge.  Last time I made it, I made a double batch and took it to a party one weekend, and then had the second half for dd's bday party the following weekend.

I make one very similar to this, just adding in a bot more sour cream. It's not as thick that way. It's always a hit!
