I want to shake her violenty right now. I'm watching a repeat of J&K + 8, I've seen this episode before and every time it makes me more angry. Its the episode when Colin gets gum on his teddy bear. Anal Kate is flipping out threatening to throw him in garbage. He is sobbing saying "he is my buddy" and she is heartlessly yelling "too bad!" It absolutely breaks my heart. He didn't do anything wrong. He is 3 years old! I feel so terrible for him right now, how friggin' tramatic.

I used to really like this show but Kate is getting to me more and more. I don't know about her...

I can't watch that show anymore, and I used to love it. I have even defended her in the beginning saying "I would be like that too if I had 8 kids" but it has gotten ridiculous--I would never be like that with twice as many kids!

I could never stand the show in the first place then I read a bunch of stuff about them. Her sister used to watch her kids and let the cameras in her home. TLC offered her a contract and kate said no way. No one is making money off of MY family so now she won't even let her on the show. Plus geez... let kids be kids. I guess in one episode(read on a blog) they toured a chocolate factory and each were given a piece of chocolate and she wouldn't let them eat it because it could ruin their supper. And the gum..... others were quick to point out they let them chew gum on an airplane. Ooooh but that was an exception to her own rule. Plus... isn't that mady a brat?

I think Kate just gets so stressed out. She's anal anyway, but add in the stress of 8 kids and she goes overboard a lot. I saw a mom like that (she was just with one kid, though) on the light rail the other day. She was yelling at her daughter because she wouldn't get on the train fast enough because she wanted to push the button that opens the doors. The mom wouldn't let her push it and told her to just get on (yelling, not telling, I guess). The girl looked to be about 3. I don't want to judge parents like that because I think most of them just want the best for their kids just like I do, but it makes me think about the message I'm portraying to Seth. I NEVER want him to fear my reaction to something.

I too feel like she can be a bit harsh at times to but lately my two year old has brought out my worst side so I guess I can see it happening. I don't like seeing other people being mean to their kids though.

Ugh, that is the episode that made me hate her. Even poor Mady was there defending him, saying that she, Colin and his teddy always play together in the mornings. To just heartlessly toss out a 3 year old's lovey makes her a compete ***.

What a heartless b!tch! i just searched through years of packed away crap to find a replacement "pounce" the beanie baby kitty for my niece, losing a stuffed friend is very traumatic. I could never imagine threatening to throw one of Livi's favorite furry friends away because of gum, good lord she needs to get a grip.

I read somewhere they are moving to North Carolina which has the most relaxed child labor laws in the US so the kids can be filmed more.

I hope to god that's not true...

That just broke my heart. I think I officially hate her now after that scene. Hearing Maddy defend him, that poor kid. Taking kids to a chocolate factory and not letting them have any? Really, what is her deal? And for the love of Pete, get these poor kids off the TV before its too late.

I hope that isnt true Brahim. This was cute in the beginning but now its gone too far. Plus I'm so livid about that scene, I can't shake it.

I knew before I read your whole post which scene was upsetting you. I HATE that scene, and I stopped watching the show after that. Kate is horrible. I realize she's stressed, but come on. Someone needs to be the adult in the situation.

I thought it was confirmed that they're moving to NC, but I didn't know about the child labor law thing. Awful.

I really feel for those kids. You can really see in the ways that they act out that the constant filming is taking its toll (exhibit A: Mady).

While I agree that that was a little harsh, I think she's far from "evil." It's easy to judge someone through a television screen. I think she's an excellent mother doing the best she can. Of course she's going to overreact from time to time, she has 8 young children and she's only human!
