For real. I'm tired of the shedding. I vacuumed up what looks to be a third cat this morning. When it was just DH & I, I could vacuum once a day (even the couches). Now w/ DD, it's just not possible. There's NO WAY I could just give them away to another family, but something has to be done about this hair. Especially since DD is now rolling all over. I even put down a queen sized bed sheet, but she is a rolling machine. I hate finding hair in her fingers!
Sooo...have you shaved your cat before? I'd take them to a groomer b/c there is no way in hell that they're just going to sit there all chill and get shaved.
Re: Who has cats? I think I'm going to shave mine.
We get our cat shaved about 3 times a year. If I don't he gets hairballs - super gross. He absolutely hates it but it has to be done.
We have a woman who comes in a grooming van (she is actually a dog groomer but does cats too) and does it in our driveway. We used to take him to a groomer but it was an all day event and it was just too stressful on the cat so we found this woman who is actually cheaper (about $60 compared to $80) and it is sooo much better since there are no other animals around just our cat and she grooms him and it is over in about a half hour. I would highly recommend looking into a mobile groomer.
When we used to take him to a groomer the vet gave us some sedatives that we could give him to calm him down a little bit but it was just as stressful to get a pill into him! But just a thought if you think your cats won't be thrilled about the idea of being shaved.
LOL...I had a really hard time not cracking a joke myself!
They both come from farms. They have short hair, but the orange one has longer hair than the other.
It's settled...they are getting shaved! I can't flippin wait. I'll post pics as soon as it happens. This is going to be hilarious.
I wonder if mine would still have the spots and stripes if I shaved them?
I have to keep mine out because they keep getting fleas in the house. I put the spot on them and treat the yard. The fleas bite everyone but me. I miss snuggling them on the couch, but don't miss vaccuming fur.
My parents have a long-haired cat and they shave her at least once a year.. usually it's right at the start of the AZ-summer, and mainly so she stays cool enough through the 110 degree weather!
They take her to the groomers and they shave her like a poodle. It's so funny to see, but super cute
