Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Those who have flown w/ DC..

.. curious - did you have to show 'proof' of your childs age? It mentions on a few websites you may have to but I've never actually seen/heard of this happening. We leave next Tuesday so I want to be sure bases are covered, I'll probably have DH call the airlines tomorrow, too.

Just curious! Anyone?

Re: Those who have flown w/ DC..

  • we've had to bring a copy of her birth ceritifcate every time (3 flights - all southwest).
  • Loading the player...
  • Ah crap... we still haven't even received our copy - guess I have to find out where we need to pick that up. Thanks for responding! I better get on it!
  • Ditto the pp- we're not flying until December, but I was told we'd need to have his birth certificate on hand.  I'm sure there's a way around that (since the airline we are flying allows infants to fly at 7 days old, and nobody would have a birth certificate by then) but probably better to be safe than sorry.

  • Nope... I flew US air and they didn't ask for proof of anything :)  They were really great w/ everything too.
  • Nope, we didn't have to show anything for him. We flew Delta.

  • I didnt have to have anything.  I just had her name added to the ticket.
  • I did bring a copy of her birth certificate though just in case
  • I'll be at my birthing center tomorrow for group - hopefully they can lead me in the right direction.. I know we filled all of the paperwork out for the certificate at the hospital...hmmm
  • We have flown Continental and SW and never had to but we keep it on hand just in case.

  • we flew with DS at 3 months and were told to bring a copy of his BC and/or his immunization record. We brought both and were never asked to show anything either flight.

  • We had a bc, but were not asked for it.  There's a clear difference between a 3 month old and a 2 year old!
  • I really would hope they could tell my DD wasn't 2 years old yet in the event that i can't get ahold of a BC in 4 days... hmmm. I can get a printout of the immunizations any time so maybe that'd be ideal as backup just in case.

What a dumb mom moment, I have no idea why we haven't ordered or gotten BC's yet. Lame.

  • her first flight we didn't have the birth certificate yet. we just brought the paper from the hospital that is basically a temporary bc.

and when we check in we go, show them the certificate and they print a special boarding pass for a "lap child" with her name on it. they check that at security. so i guess, it seems weird no one else has had to do that.

  • Yeah I guess we'll just have to check w/ the airline and get an expedited BC possibly. Good thing I thought of this at least a few days in advance.. yikes... would've sucked to show up and find out then!
