Did any of you have a feeling you were carrying multiples? Also, how did you all get early ultrasounds to determine twins? I am just curious, sorry if you get asked this a lot!! lol
Before I had the 9 wk ultrasound, I was kind of joking with DH that we were having twins, because I was getting big really fast already (way faster than with DD). At that point I may have been telling myself that to deny the possibility that I was getting fat fast . My mom had a feeling though, and it was confirmed at the 9 wk ultrasound.
I found out at the ultrasound at six weeks. For us, the pregnancy was a surprise and I had absolutely no idea how far along I might've been. I didn't think I was having twins until we were on our way to the appt. and then I just had a feeling that was what it was going to be. This may also be attributed to the fact that my husband's brother and sister-in-law have a set. While I know that twins don't come from the father, I had a moment of, "How crazy would that be?" That's also why NOBODY believed us when we told them the news.
The triplets were my 2nd pregnancy - after having just been thru a singleton pregnancy, the side effects (vomiting, tired, etc) for the 2nd pregnancy were much more intense. Like insanely intense. Plus, my belly was expanding very quickly. Everyone said it was b/c I had just had a baby. I thought I was pregnant with twins.
A routine u/s was scheduled for my 3rd appt at 17 weeks - that is when they discovered 3 babies.
I joked with DH that there were twins in there because I felt so naseous this time around. We knew it couldn't be, since our next door neighbor just had twins. Ha! Sure enough, the 9w u/s revealed twins. My ob office does early u/s' to date the pregnancy.
Not a clue. Wouldn't have even found out about them until much later in the pregnancy, but I had some spotting around 6w so my GP sent me for a viability scan. Surprise!

My RE ran HCG and progerstone b/w the day I got my BFP at home. My progesterone was 187 15DPO - the nurse said she thought it might mean multiples. I researched it and researched it but couldn't find any link between high progestrone levels and multiples. I figured it was a singleton. Then DH and I started joking about names for twins (you know, stuff you'd never name your kids) like Smith & Wesson, Big & Rich, Beavis & Butthead. At the 7 wk u/s it was confirmed that we are having twins! We still refer to the twins as Smith & Wesson - but I promise we are not naming them that!
I had a feeling because of family history, lots of nausea, and lots of early movement, but it wasn't confirmed until my 20 week ultrasound and the student tech who started our scan had to all the sudden leave the room and get her supervisor. It was a big surprise to actually be right!

We transferred two embryos, so we knew it was a possibility. When the betas came back (see below), they were above average for twins, so I had a good idea. The nurse also suggested it was a possibility given the betas. Of course, the first ultrasound is what confirmed it.
I had an ultrasound at about 7 weeks to make sure the pregnancy was in place due to 2 previous miscarriages. Had no clue that I was pregnant with twins........Total Shocker!!! Very Happy nonetheless!!!

Re: how did you know?
Check out the FAQ's link on the top of the board.
I had a dating ultrasound. There were two.
My OB does u/s for all pregnancies in the 7th week to rule out ectopic. That's how we found out.
And I had no clue or inkling or anything.

Sorry that was a little long-winded. : )

we did injectables + IUI and saw 3 mature follicles on ultrasound before the IUI, so we knew it was a possibility.
saw 2 sacs at 5 week ultrasound, 2 heartbeats at 6 week ultrasound.
1. I used clomid
2. My betas were high even for twins on betabase
3. I had dreams about twins after my BFP
4. I had an ultrasound at 5w6d showing 2 sacs, 2 fetal poles and 2 heartbeats
I'd say #4 was clearly the kicker.
