Honda CR-V or Subaru Forrester?

Re: Honda CR-V or Subaru Forrester?

  • Subaru - only black with black cloth interior and Honda:either black with black cloth interior or silver with gray cloth interior. I'm so torn

I LOVE our CR-V.  Love it.  We have a dual-deck storage shelf in the back so it basically doubles the storage in the back (ask the dealer about it if it isn't standard in your model).  The stroller goes on top and then everything else goes below.  Seriously, best feature for a family with a baby ever.

Also, carseats install really easily.  Hondas are very reliable.  We love ours.  It drives well and feels really solid, much nicer than the Ford Explorer that we used to have.

I'll be happy to answer any other questions you have.  We were looking at other cars, including Volvos and Saturn Hybrids (this was 3 years ago) and we were blown away by the CR-V.

Oh, and I vote Blue with black interior.  I love the blue CR-Vs.

  • I think it's a win-win situation. We have a Forester and we love it. But I'd definitely consider a CR-V when we are ready for another car. (I'm no help I know Smile
  • Forrester. I'm not a fan of the new CR-V's.
  • I also LOVE my CRV. So happy with it. I love the shelf in the back, we put the stroller on top, and everything else underneath. Mine's an 07, has 50k miles on it, I have owned it since it was brand new and had ZERO problems with it, in 3 1/2 years. Also, subarus are notorious for being difficult to install carseats. My CRV is so so so easy to install carseats in. And even with the seat installed, still fits 4 adults comfortably.

  • Love. love, love my CRV.  07 with 67k miles on it.  Never had an issue!

  • My mom drives a forrester and says she will never drive another car for the rest of her life.  It is such an awesome car.  I drive a subaru legacy, but if I could I'd drive a forrester.

I don't know much about the CR-V, so I can't really say anything about it.  I know where I live, 4wd or awd is ESSENTIAL so a Subaru is a great choice.

  • I LOVE my Forester.  Big enough for all the gear we need, but not too big for driving in town. The doors open really wide so that getting an infant car seat in and out was fine, and getting a big toddler in and out is fine.

My MIL has a CR-V, and I like it, too, but I have to say that I prefer the way my Forester drives over hers.  (We've had to switch cars several times when she needs DS's car seat.)

  • I love my CRV, though I have an older model ('05). Haven't had any problems with it and it's such a great size.
  • Last year we were between these two, also!

I had always owned Hondas and loved them, but the deciding factor for me ended up being visibility. I just didn't like the blind spots in the current CRV bodystyle. I could see soooo  much more when driving the Forrester. (also love the HUGE moon roof) Oh, and I also liked how the Forrester felt more car like than the CRV.  We've had our Forrester for a year exactly and I couldn't be happier!!!

Actually, 4 days after we bought it new I was hit by another car. DD was asleep and never even woke up!  I'm sure that probably would have happened in CRV, too. But, though I was bummed to have a wrecked new car, I was so glad that I wasn't in my old civic!

Either way, I think you can't go wrong!

  • Def Subaru Forrester!

We love ours and we would never buy anything else.  When this car is done we'll buy another for sure! It handles so well on the highway and has lots of cargo space.  I love this car

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Forrester too!!! It's a 2010 and they remodelled it for this year so it's a little bigger than the older models and has tons of space. I am a visiting nurse and have so much work gear in the back, plus a stroller and can still fit a full grocery shop. Gas mileage isn't too bad and it handles amazingly well in bad weather.

  • Thanks for your replies! I am going with the Honda CR-V. IMO, better storage and more bang for the buck.
