Insurance won't cover it. They consider BJ an excluded driver and I only had liability, not collision and since the chick that ran him off didn't stop, it's technically his fault. The car isn't totaled, but the repairs are over $10k and the car is only worth $13k so it's really not worth fixing. As for public transportation, there really isn't a lot in Memphis. They have buses, but they are inconvient and unreliable, I don't think one even goes out to his school or work. If only we lived in Chicago, I wouldn't even need a car! BJ is determined to buy me a new one, he claims he'll have one for me in a month.

I missed the orginal post as well. I'm so sorry you have to go through all this B.S.
I agree. Is there anyway you could buy a cheap car to 'hold you over'?

Thanks ladies
We are planning on getting something cheap just to last the next few years. Thankfully this mess won't push us too far behind in our plans.
A witness did stop to see if he was ok, but they left as soon as he said it was. It was raining and pretty crappy weather. BJ got a ticket for failure to maintain proper control, but the police officer told him to go in front of the Judge and tell him what happened and it will more then likely be thrown out.

The ticket is probably a technicality honestly since the woman on the phone was so immersed in her conversation she probably didn't even know she caused a problem. So the lady on the cell phone couldn't be "blamed" because there was no way to know who she was. Not like you spend time getting license plate numbers when you're trying to survive. I'm surprised the other driver didn't give some kind of identifying info to back up the story but some people are that way and don't want to get involved. It might be worth contesting the ticket just in case it affects DH's insurance in the future.
(It's pretty common in some areas to get tickets like that. My DH was nearly given a ticket for that b/c a lady rear-ended him.)
