Need some help with solids while away for the weekend

We are headed out of town this weekend, we will be staying in a hotel with no fridge, LO will not eat the Gerber food. But loves my food.

So far she has had peaches, pears, apples, sweet potatoes, and tried and hated green beans and avacados.

We just started avacados Monday, any ideas how I can bring solids without a fridge?

I'd bring a cooler and just use the hotel's ice machine to keep ice in it. Smile

  • Have you tried Sprout Organic? It's closer to homemade than Gerber and other jarred food.

Also, retry avocado in a couple months, DS hated them the first time but we retried this week and he loves them!

    Ditto!
  • I like the cooler idea.  I usually just buy Earth Best organics and she seems ok with it.

  • I was worried the cooler wouldn't keep it cold enough for long enough.

It should be fine.  We've done it for day trips and it's worked well.  I think if you replace the ice, you'll be all set Yes

  • DD loves canned peaches when we are in a pinch.  You could bring those and try canned pears too.

The ice machine is a great idea too.

I couldn't find any decent pears to cook, so I bought a package of Sprout Organic Roasted Pears.  I won't feed DS anything I wouldn't eat, so I tasted them and they were very yummy.  I could have eaten them as a snack.  DS had them tonight for the first time and he agreed!

The consistency was a little thinner than I make my food, so I did mix in a tiny bit of rice cereal (DS eats better with thicker food).

with canned peaches and pears you just have to make sure there is no sugar added.

  • DH likes bananas (took about a week) and what about buying the single serving Natural apple sauce.  I make all of our baby food, but I do buy Mott's natural apple sauce b/c it is inexpenisve and nothing but apples and water.  The single serves do not need to be refridgerated until they are opened.
