Support re: hCG level that isn't doubling?

My bloodwork from Monday showed an hCG level of 63.  Yesterday's (exactly 48 hours later) was only 90.  Obviously it's good that it's going up, but not doubling is concerning me (and slightly so for the dr.).

My dr. wants me to wait a week and repeat bloodwork.  That means I won't have the answer until at least a week from right now.  I think I may go crazy with "what if?" and worry in the next week.

Please share your low/non-doubling hCG stories (yours or ones you know of); I'm trying to stay positive and keep away the worry as much as possible!

TIA.

  • that happened to me with DS.  my first draws went from 110 to 131 in 48 hrs.  i had a history of m/c and have a weird chromosome thing that puts me at increased risk of m/c so my doc basically told me not to get my hopes up about the pg. being successful.  i was so bummed...but ya know what, here i am with a happy, healthy 1 year old.  increasing is a good thing!  just try not to let the worry take over (i know, i know...easier said than done) and see what happens next week.

this.  try not to stress! (way easier said than done, I know!)

  • My hCG levels for the one draw I had for the boys was what it should have been for a 3 week pregnancy when I went the next week for an u/s they dated me at 9 weeks... so my low numbers were no indication of how far I was or that I was having twins!

  • I have a pretty crazy one. Had spotting for a week or so right around where you are at in the pregnancy. It wasn't going away so I begged to come in for a hCG check. I stopped in on a Friday and then left to go out town for the weekend. While I was out of town all spotting/bleeding stopped and I completely felt pregnant (it was my 2nd pregnancy). I was convinced that things were fine so I almost didn't go back to get my blood checked again, but in the end decided that I should. I got the call back a day later that my levels were dropping and that I was miscarrying. I was shocked to say the least. A couple of days later my doctor called to see how I was doing and I explained that I hadn't been bleeding at all and I still felt like I was pregnant. She told me to come in for an ultrasound. I get there and lo and behold, there is a baby measuring perfectly with a strong heartbeat. No one could explain what happened but the pregnancy continued on as normal and I now have a spunky little 2 year old. FWIW, when I delivered her there were 2 bags of water. The theory is that I was pregnant with twins and very early on lost the 2nd baby. You just never know. Try not to worry (easier said than done!)
