Breastfeeding

I still have frozen BM from August...

I became a SAHM in August and began EBF. DD is now 18 months and still nurses and has 3 meals plus snacks. She rarely drinks cow's milk - roughly 6 -8 oz in 2 days! The last time I attempted to give BM in a sippy was probably when she was 10 months old. Now what? Trash it? It's been in the back of the regular freezer with stuff piled on top and in front of it. Is it ANY good? Should I give it to her?! YIKES!

Re: I still have frozen BM from August...

  • I don't think it is still good. I think they say 3 mts in a freezer with its own door attached to a refridgerator and 6-8 mts in a seperate deep freezer. Either way, I don't think it's any good. I know how hard it will be to trash it :(

IDK though, see what everyone else thinks, ask your pedi too... GL!

  • The stuff from last summer isn't any good any more :(

I'd say if it's more than 4 months old I'd toss it. Maybe you could try closer to 6 but I'd taste it first for sure. But August is like 10 months - no way I would feed my LO that.

  • That seems like it's too old. Where have you been storing the milk? In a deep freezer or your fridge's freezer? If you don't want to throw it away, I'd smell and maybe even taste it before giving it to DD
