Driving w dc (she hates it!)

Hi,

MrsTotty's previous post got me thinking that I will never be able to drive for 4 hours w dd. She absolutely hate the car (she even did when she was in my belly: tossing and turning, lol!). I tried everything: paci, loose the belts surrounding her, bough her new toys for the carseat, music, blanket, mirror. The only thing she wants is to have someone hold her hand and talk to her. Everyday the 30m ride from home to the nanny and back is frustrating. Do you have any suggestion?

TIA

  • My son had a serious issue with the car seat for a short while but now he is ok with it.  Our car seat is in the middle so I would just put stretch my arm back there and let him hold my finger.  My arm would sometimes fall asleep but it was worth it.  That didn't necessarily make him stop crying though.  I also keep the window partially or fully rolled down.  That seemed to have worked the best, but ultimately I think he just outgrew it.

  • We took out the head support cushion and it made a big difference. She has good head control and I think it made her feel resticted or confined. She's much happier now.
  • I second rolling the back window down some. That always calms DD down and is usually a sure way to put her to sleep too.
