Thunderstorms and labor?

I'd like to thank today's thunderstorm  Storm  for making me miserable all day long. I have been having some pretty painful contractions all day. My doctor has already told me this is normal because I have noticed a pattern during a strong storm I start getting the contractions frequently.

I am 31 1/2 weeks and my mother in law is worried I will go in labor too soon. I am sure all is fine and I have checked in with my doctor.

 Anyone else have this issue?

Re: Thunderstorms and labor?

  • I haven't experienced this, but is it possible that the change in barometric pressure has something to do with it? When a storm is coming in I often get a headache and my old injuries start to ache, so I imagine it could cause body changes in pregnancy.

  • I have been having contractions for most of the day.... My contractions are not considered issues however. The only issue I will have is if they go way Angry

  • That is exactly the reason for the contractions. My Dr told me its due to the drop in the barometric pressure. Either way I'm miserable and they are pretty sharp. My husband keeps telling me to go to L&D poor guy is worried but I know it will pass.
  • Sadly, if there is a correlation, it isn't working for me :-( good luck to you ladies getting contractions, though!! Labor dust if you're needing it!

  • I had DS#2 the day after a thunder storm!
