TMI - I need to potty... help!

Major TIMI, sorry... but I need help.

Last week began the infamous pregnancy constipation, bad!  And I think the Zofran made it worse.  Since discovering my miracle drug causes a horrible side effect, I have stopped taking it (well, until the m/s comes back).  But now I'm stuck (well, "it" is stuck).  I've been taking Collace since Friday, but nothing yet.  And when I go, it isn't anywhere enough and it hurts a ton.

Any natural remedies?

  • Oh, no! These are the things I can think of: tons of water, apple juice, prunes, oatmeal or something with a ton of fiber, exercise. I hope things get moving for you soon!

  • YES! psyllium husk is a savor. You can take it in pill form. Also, flax seed and irish oats. Mix in some virgin/organic coconut oil and after a day or two things will move.

     I've been desperate myself. Lol.

Prunes was already on my grocery list.  I've been drinking more apple juice and apples that usual, but my mom said it can do the opposite effect.  And I'm def going for a long walk today!  I'm not suppose to, but got to get things moving.

  • Benefiber worked for me also.  It's in a powder form and has no flavor so you can mix it into anything to make sure you're getting more fiber in your diet.

Definitely tons of water and the colace, it can take a little bit to get things going again, but once they do make sure you keep doing what you're doing because you don't want to get "stuck" again!

  • definately cut out the apples (juice, applecause, apples,) because they have the opposite effect. Avoid bananas too.
  • The Sunsweet Ones worked for me and they actually taste pretty good. GL
  • i drank coffee to cure mine when i was pregnant  :)
  • Lots of water and I second the benefiber. Be careful though, too much fiber too quickly can "back you up" even more or cause you some gastrointestinal distress. I had a similar issue with Zofran and used benefiber and made sure to eat lots of salads.
  • COFFEE!  Good luck!
  • Coffee usually makes me go, quickly.  However, my dad said it had the opposite effect, so I cut it out.  Plus, I haven't wanted to drink anything hot lately... only Frapps.

I'm def getting Benefiber and prunes tonight.  THANKS LADIES!

  • I had the same issue when I was pregnant. After all the things you tried didn't work, my OB nurse recommended milk of magnesia, which also didn;t work, and then finally a Fleet's Enema... that didn't work either. but maybe ti will for you! I ended up in the hospital getting a soap sud enema!! YUCK! I was SO backed up though!
  • LOL @ "it" is stuck...

Besides coffee, I always kept Fiber One bars around.  And def keep your water intake high - good luck!

  • Oatmeal

    Greens - spinach, kale, etc

    Fiber One bars

Flax seeds or flax seed oil

High fiber cereals like Frosted Mini Wheats or any granola or flax seed cereal

Nature's Path Flax Plus Pumpkin Raisin Crunch cereal has oatmeal and flax seeds in it--they help a lot--I buy this at Costco and really like it.

Miralax (check with your doctor first)

and lots and lots of water!

I'm sure it will all come out alright in the end.

    (sorry, couldn't help it!)

    Feel better!

  • Coffee and any kind of cereal work for me!
  • Coffee, a mineral oil enema, and some rubber gloves.. you know. Ugh.

    TMI, but.. yeah.
