Depends on the office, I went for an ultrasound and the hospitals ultrasound office and got an abdominal one at 8 weeks 3 days and didn't even need a full blatter and the pics were amazingly clear
you really get better crisper images with internal. if your smaller and have a full bladder they may try abdominal but if it was me i would want transvag

I just had my second ultrasound Thurs and I was 9 weeks 4 days. They tried doing the abdominal one, but couldn't see very well so they did it internally. It didn't hurt at all. We got to see the baby's arms moving around and the heartbeat which was really neat.
Heartbeat, it can be done via abdomen. If there is any sort of measuring to be done of the baby, it should be done vaginally.
Not true. It can be done through an external ultrasound. If they are unable to get what they need then an internal is necessary. I've only had external and they were able to get all the measurements needed.
Re: Ultrasound at 9w6d?
Depends on the office/tech IMO. You may want to call and ask.
DS was abdominal @ 8+ weeks and DD was internal at 8+ weeks
I had different tech both times (my office only has 2). Not sure what will be in store this time, lol.
My little man at 0-1-2
Depends on your doctor.
In my first pregnancy my ultrasounds were internal until about 12 weeks.
This pregnancy (all ultrasounds with high risk doctor) they have been abdominal since 7 weeks with no issues.
