Trying to Get Pregnant

ttc & dental xrays?

I have a dentist appointment tom for a cleaning and think I'm due for xrays? I researched it and have found some sites that say it is ok and others that say to avoid getting xrays. What have you done? I'm debating if I should just decline the xray or go ahead and get it.

Re: ttc & dental xrays?

  • I've always been covered with the lead vest, so I didn't even think anything of it.  Just ask to be covered.

  • Thanks ladies! I think I will just go ahead and get it over with.
  • From my understanding, x-rays are only bad if you are PG. I would go ahead and get them done if I were in your shoes.

  • I actually had my teeth cleaned about a month ago.  They asked if I was pregnant & I told them no, but that we're TTC.  The dentist said just to let them know if I was pregnant at the next appointment & they'd skip the x-rays.  They said if you're just TTC the x-rays are fine.

  • I told my dentist we are were "no longer on birth control" (I avoided the word "trying" incase anyone I knew was there), they just covered me with the lead vest as usual.  I wouldn't worry about it too much, if you are pregnany it's a different story.

2ww =/= pregnant. Get your dental work done.

And honestly, pregnant women can get them done if they are covered properly. Your teeth are nowhere near your ute.

  • I had xrays at my dentist 2 weeks ago and since I had checked "pregnant of trying to conceive" on my paperwork they just automatically put 2 lead vests on me before shooting.

The radiation from X rays can travel up to 6 feet
