Vaccinations

This might start a whole "thing", but I need some help. I am completely for all vaccinations, meanwhile DH would rather not give LO any vaccines. I was wondering if you ladies could recommend some resources for and against vaccinations.

Thanks for your help.

  • I am completely for vaccines so I'll give you some of the research I found. Vaccines are so important and I can't find a good reason for anyone to NOT get them.

  • The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears has very good information on vaccinations.  It talks about each vax and what is in the vax, it also talks about each disease and when/where/how your child might be exposed to the disease (thus letting the parent make a decision about what to put in their child and when is the appropriate time to do it).  Dr. Sears talks about the AAP recommended vax schedule and also gives some recommendations on delayed schedules.  I think it is a very good resource for learning about vaccinating children and I don't think it is biased in it's presentation of the information.
  • Check your local day cares and school district- many won't allow children without vaccines.  Also, if you go with the delayed schedule, realize that the number of shots you give your child is overall larger, and therefore your child is getting more preservatives than the standard schedule.  If you have to get them anyway, as a school requirement, keep that in mind as you make your decision.

This is so full of falsehoods.

First of all, only TWO states do not allow for personal or religious exemptions for vaccines for school (MS and WV).  ALL states allow for medical exemptions but each state has their own requirements for who you can get to sign the exemption.

A delayed schedule does not have to include separated vaccines, which means that a delayed schedule can still have you giving combo vaccines (if you are comfortable with them) therefore your child would just not be getting four shots (and 8 or more vaccines) in one visit but might be getting one, two, or even three vaccines in one shot.
