Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How many outfits/onesies/etc?

We have gotten a ton of clothes from our showers, and we still have another shower to go.  I'm just trying to figure out if we need all these clothes or if some can go back for store credit or even just exchange for larger sizes.

What do you think?  What's a good number of NB sleepers/onesies/outfits to have?  How many in 3 month and 6 month sizes?

Re: How many outfits/onesies/etc?

  • Unless receipts will expire, keep them until your baby is born and you know how big he/she is starting out (some babies start in newborn, some skip to 0-3).  I also would not buy very much in 6 month sizes until your baby is a few months old and you see how fast they're growing - 6 months out is an entirely different season (short sleeve vs long sleeve).

I understand the temptation to have everything "all set" for the baby, but it's not like you will never go to BRU again (in fact you'll be there more often than you are now, trust me).

  • my ds goes thru 2-5 sleepers/outfits/onesies a day-- spitup, pee, blood from his umbilical cord... they just need to change cloithes a lot at first!  hth!
  • i would hang on to them all for right now.  Every brand's sizes are different.  DD was over 9 lbs when she was born but still fit into carter's nb size.  She right now is wearing some 0-3 month all the way to 3-6 month clothes.  She usually only goes through one outfit a day.  I would make sure you have atleast 15 outfits and 15 sleepers.  I think that is about how many i had of nb and 0-3 months things.
