Can someone throw me a bone and post their 4-month old schedule? We're getting close to having one, but they still wake up at different times each day. Today was 5:15 am. Ugh. Bedtime has been consistent for 2 months now, which is good.
Also, did anyone else introduce solids at 4 months? I am thinking about doing this when we get home from work at 5:30, then bath at 6:15, bottle at 6:30 and bed at 6:45.
I am most interested in the nap portion of your schedule.
Thanks!
Re: 4-month old schedules
Schedule? lol:) We don't really have one.
They wake up anywhere between 4:45-7am, we leave for 'school' at 7:30am, I pick them up at 4:30pm, we have playtime/nap until 6pm, at 6pm we do either baths or more playtime, bottles/jammies at 6:30/7ish and by 7:30pm we are upstairs in their room hopefully nearly asleep. But, most nights they aren't completely asleep until 8:30pm.
With starting work full-time this week everything has gone a bit haywire. I hope we will have a better schedule soon.
We have a late start to our day. I'm trying to have an earlier bedtime to have an earlier wake up time, but its a slow transition. Our schedule currently is:
9am - Up for the day
10:30ish - Morning nap. Lasts 2-3 hours.
3ish - Afternoon nap. Lasts 30-45 minutes.
6ish - Evening nap. Lasts 20-30 minutes.
8:30-9 - Bedtime.
I breastfeed every 3 hours and dreamfeed before I go to bed. They get up at 3/4am and 6am to eat but go right back to sleep.
The doctor gave us the green light to start solids at 4 months. My DH and I researched it and decided to wait. Cereal is to get them ready for solids and is not for the nutritional content. My girls are really tiny. I want them to fill up on high calorie breastmilk instead of lower calorie cereal. My DH just doesn't want them to grow up
We've decided to wait until 6 months.
Eat at 730, down for a nap at 930. Eat at 1130, down for nap at 130, Eat at 330, Catnap somewhere between here and bedtime usually 6ish. Bath at 7 Nurse 730ish and to bed. I've recently added a dream feed at 10ish because they weren't satisfied with just the day feeds. Ideally, they would take 2 hour naps because they need them and are happiest during awake time when they get a good nap. But really they are a constant struggle for us and tend to be about 45 minutes long.
Our pedi said to start solids at 5 months. I have read that solids are just for practice and most of their nutrition should come from breastmilk/formula for the first 6 months. A week or so ago we did give the boys rice cereal because they just weren't acting satisfied but then I felt guilty for not waiting so we haven't given anymore. That is when I started the dream feed. They've been good since then. We'll start officially at 5 months.
At 4 months we were on 3 naps
The first was between 8 and 9 (depending on wake up time) and lasted about an hour.
The 2nd was at 12 and lasted about 2 hrs.
And the 3rd was usually around 5 for 30 mins.
Then bedtime at 7:30.
Thanks ladies! This is our rough schedule right now.
6:00 am - wake up
6:00 am - bottle
7:00 am - cat nap in bouncy (30 minutes)
9:00 am - bottle
10:00 am - nap in crib (2-3 hours)
12:30 pm - bottle
1:00 pm - cat nap in bouncy (45 minutes)
3:30 pm - bottle
4:00 pm - cat nap in bouncy (45 minutes)
6:15 pm - bath
6:30 pm - bottle
6:45 pm - bed
Sophia wakes up for a bottle in the middle of the night (between 1 and 3 am) and Lily has been STTN (for the most part, unless Sophia is extra fussy and wakes her up) .
They are each eating between 28 and 34 oz a day.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
your sched looks great.
mine did the same in the am at this age (and for a while after) where some days they'd wake at 5:15 (or 4:50!) and others at 8am... but NEVER on the same day
i was chicken about waking a sleeping baby at that time.
Our schedule (and of course all the times are more or less):
7:45am = Wake-up and eat (I EBF) then play in the house
9:30/9:45am = First nap (1.5 hours)
11:15/11:30am = Wake-up and eat then go on a stroller walk, play at home, etc.
1:30pm = Second nap (1 hour)
2:30pm = Wake-up and eat then get in the car and run some errands (sometimes they catnap in the car which pushes their third nap later in the day)
4:30/5pm = Third nap (45 min.-1 hour, length of the nap depends on when they fell asleep, the later in the day they take their last nap, the shorter the last nap is, which is fine since we don't want them napping past 6pm and then not being tired at bed time)
5:30/6pm = Wake-up and eat
6:30pm = Go on a walk outside in the Bjorns
7/7:15pm = Bath time
7:30/7:45pm = Last feeding
7:45/8pm = Bed time!!!
Mine will be 4 months on the 5th, but I plan on keeping them on the same schedule that I've had them on b/c it works. They both get up around 7am ish so they eat every 4 hours so 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and bed time is 8pm, which they both sleep thru the night now. At their 7pm bottle they get 8oz w/ 2 tablespoons (maybe alittle more then that) of rice cereal. I have to work on nap times though, not sure when I need to start inforcing naps.
I have givin Joey the rice cereal only w/ a spoon & he loved it, I'm going to wait till I go to there 4 month appt on June 10 to see if I can start any other solids.
I read Baby Wise & followed it (not to the "T", but close enough) & started them on a schedule when they were 2 months & OMG has it made my life easier. They will be 4 months tomorrow. Addi is going on week 5 of sleeping thru the night. Joey, is going on week 2, but before that he'd sleep from 8pm till around 4:30am, but now they both sleep till around 7 am give or take.
