Traveling w/LO for the first time...

and not sure where to begin...we are going to New Orleans on a church trip next weekend and are staying 2 nights...I will have a double bed for he and I so I'm okay w/not taking the PNP(he sleeps in the bed with me every morning from about 6a-9a)...I do, however, plan to take the travel system...anything else I should consider?
