I was walking back from the beach yesterday with my god-daughters, carrying David and a bunch of other stuff (stupid me). I had left the stroller behind because we had so much other beach stuff (dumb dumb).
Well, I caught my toe on the gravel path and went down, HARD, with David in my arms. He was fine; it's amazing how you instinctively use your body to shield your baby, but he was scared. I ripped my elbow and my knee to shreds; it took DH almost an hour to help me get all of the sand and mud out of the cuts.
If you haven't had a massively skinned knee as an adult, it hurts WAY MORE than it did when we were kids! I feel like such a wuss, limping around with gauze everywhere.
Lesson learned.... strollers are a good idea when lugging stuff...
