Mom's of DD's with lots of hair

I'm at a loss for where to find DD some small little hair ties or rubber bands.

Also looking for recs on hair clips that actually WORK.  ;)

If anyone has some good ideas fill me in??

Thanks :)

Re: Mom's of DD's with lots of hair

  • I've had luck with non-slip alligator clippies from various Etsy sellers.  DD can pull them out if she gets it in her mind to do so, but they really don't slip.

If you want to retrofit some clips you have, I got a set of Etsy clips that used shelf liners as the no slip part.  Have you seen those rolls of squish rubbery/foam shelf paper with the material arranged in a checker pattern?   Like this:

I think she cut that up, just the size of the barrette to make it non-slip.

I'm looking for hair rubberbands and have had no luck, so I'll be watching your replies.

  • Do you follow Mrs.Forestes blog?  She always talks about hair bows and clips in it.  Her DD and your DD probably have about the same amount of hair.

We just got some rubber bands yesterday for DD. They are the little thin clear kind.

We bought the smaller size like those.

  • I use rubber bands like all of the pp, I got them in the baby section at target and they work really well.  I also have a friend who just recommended using alligator clips with velcro inside of them.  We have ones without velcro and they don't slip that much but DD pulls them out and eats them.  Try www.babyjanes.com  I think is the website she recommended and you can order the clips with velcro for 99 cents..or you can try what I am doing and go to a craft store and get the velcro sheets with sticky sides and do it yourself : )

  • Claire's has the tiny rubber bands.  That's where we got ours.  And Target has fabric covered hair clips in the baby department that work for us.  I usually just use one to keep the hair back over her face.

We just use mini claw clips by Goody. They sell them in Duane Reade or Rite Aid. They stay in her hair all day and they come in lots of colors.
  • Thanks ladies.  Now I have tons of ideas.  Yeaw.
  • I have seen packs of little baby ponytails at Walmart and Target.  They come with the little cloth ponytails and the little plastic ones.  They are like $3 for hundreds of ponys.

I have found cute clips with bows and corkers on them at both places too for $2-3.  They are in the baby section.
