What to do? Summer and food

Every summer my appetite goes away.  Usually I'm a pretty good eater, but in summer, I'm never hungry.

Today I had to force myself to eat dinner (otherwise I would have had a granola bar and a piece of cheese pizza all day).

I hate having to do that, but I guess that is what I'm going to have to do....

Anyone else like this?  What do you do about it?

Re: What to do? Summer and food

  • Eat summer-friendly foods.  Fruit salad, pasta salad, grilled veggies/chicken, etc.  Eat smaller meals more often throughout the day instead of aiming to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner.  Just have the stuff made and ready to go in the fridge so you can grab something cool and light every few hours.

  • I don't eat much either during summer. Mainly cooler foods like sandwhiches, cereal, and fruit. I wouldn't worry too much about it as your body will tell you "I'm hungry! Eat!" and so will baby. You won't starve yourself. I went through phases (during winter) where I would eat a bunch and other days I ate maybe 1500 calories or less. You can try drinking protein shakes, too. If you are still concerned ask your doc if there is anything he/she recommends :-)
  • I've been having to make myself eat dinner every night.  I get down as much as I can, but I make sure that I am drinking a large glass of juice or milk after I eat.

I can handle drinking, it's the eating part that kills me!

good advice.  I was just thinking about this since I've barely eaten today.  Everything sounds so heavy.

  • Eat foods that are in season.....fresh fruits for snacks & breakfast & making smoothies.  Fresh vegetables, the options are endless there....grill them, eat them raw, stir fries.  We don't eat animals, so we grill a lot of tofu & use it in stir fries/bakes/sandwiches.  Light pasta's/pasta salads/salad/sandwiches/veggie burgers/dogs.  Eat smaller portions & just more frequently to avoid getting too full & heavy.
