I was trying to find a link to "Where does all the weight go" but coudn't find it. How much does everything weigh in your belly again? How much do you usually loose? Is it like 10 or 15 pounds? I'm just wondering what I should be looking forward to so I don't get depressed stepping on the scale after the baby is born.

Thanks Ladies!
Re: How much weight do you loose?
not sure the exact breakdown. But for ds he was 8lbs 5 oz and I had gained 32 lbs. In 3 wks I lost 25 lbs. So about16-17 was other stuff, and just from Bfing I lost it. After 2.5 months the remaining 7 lbs were gone.

In my birthing class, the instructor said sometimes you don't have any weight change by the time you're discharged.
I'm secretly hoping for just a little something to drop off.
Found this online in a quick google search:
7 - 9 pounds of baby
2 pounds of placenta
2 pounds of amniotic fluid
4 - 5 pounds of increased blood volume
2 pounds uterine enlargement
3 - 4 pounds of fluid in maternal tissue
1 pound of breast enlargement to prepare for breastfeeding
Any remaining pounds are a general deposit of fat required by the body for breastfeeding and energy stores
- Baby - At birth your baby may weigh between 6-7.5 pounds.
- Uterus - The uterus expands during pregnancy and may weigh 2
pounds.
- Placenta - The placenta, vital for nourishing your baby,
generally
weighs 1.5 pounds.
- Breasts - Breast tissue often grows during pregnancy, and
may weigh up
to 1.5 to 2 pounds.
- Blood Volume - Your blood volume will increase during
pregnancy up to 4
pounds.
- Fluid - Your body will retain some fluid during pregnancy,
as much as 4
pounds!
- Amniotic Fluid - The fluid surrounding your baby will weigh
approximately 2 pounds.
- Maternal Fat Stores and Nutrients - You will also gain about
7 pounds of
weight that can be attributed to maternal fat and nutrient stores as
well as
muscle development.
I lost 13lbs the first week after having DD and about 25 after 2 weeks..I only gained 35 and I think I still have the last 10..Havent been on a scale since week 2this post makes me feel better and gives me hope!!! haha ive gained 30 lbs. Im planning on bf and everything so hopefully i loose the weight fast
good luck to everyone on weight loss!!! haha!
if you get an IV during L&D you might retain water for a few weeks afterward so that's probably a few lbs that you don't necessarily account for with baby/placenta, etc.
if you plan on BFing, you want to be careful not to lose too much weight otherwise it can negatively affect your supply. just hide the scale for a few months.

I lost almost 25lbs within a week. BUT, my stomach is still very bloated... like I'm still 6 months pregnant. So even though I'm within 10 lbs of my pp weight, most of my clothes still don't fit and it's been a month.
When I went in to the hospital to have DS#1 I weighed 185lbs. I had a 7lbs baby and when I went home 24hrs later and stepped on the scale I was 180lbs! Yes, I had a 7lbs baby and only "lost" 5lbs!!!! I was so depressed!
Fortunately I continued to lose several lbs every single day for the first week. I guess I had a ton of water weight.....that combined with eating VERY well, I lost 30lbs in the first 3 weeks.
DOn't be worried, it will be ok! :-)

I gained 45 pounds with DS and lost 10 by the time I left the hospital, which was 3 days later. By one week after he was born, I had lost 17 pounds and as of yesterday I had lost a total of 23 pounds. I'll probably check again on Tuesday when DS is 2 weeks.
I haven't done anything since I had a c-section and have been pretty limited, but BFing alone seems to be doing the trick. Try not to stress too much, get some loose fitting sundresses, enjoy the summer and your LO!
Warning, you stomach will NOT be back to normal. You still might look pregnant and it will definitely be loose/smooshy for a good while.
Now is not the time to be vain. The good news is that you'll be so busy/exhausted you will hardly notice, lols!
i have heard the same thing about if you have an IV you probably won't loose much during your hospital stay. if you don't i have heard 10-15lbs.... but I am sure you will lose something. The first 2 weeks you will definately be losing lots in blood and fluids... it took your body 9 months to put the weight on- you should give it at least 10 weeks-3 months to loose it.
take comfy clothes to the hospital... and don't expect to start to feel normal for a few weeks. You can bleed for up to 6 weeks after delivery.
I had 3 bags of IV fluids and came home and weighed myself - 2 days post baby I was down 12lbs. I had a 9lb baby. I still have alot of fluid retention and have been out walking quite a bit since I was in the hospital.
Hudson will be 4 days old at 9:12 this evening. We have been trying to breastfeed but have been having some latching issues. I can tell my milk is within a day or so of coming full on. I gained about 33lbs during my pregnancy but had GD and had a strict diet the last 10 weeks.
