Trying to Get Pregnant

Negative test but still don't have my period...

I am five days late and I am normally super regular 27 day cycle but I have had three negative home pregnancy tests.  Only other symptom is that my acid reflux disease has been more aggravated and I am getting nauseas often.  Should I go to a doctor and get a blood test or just wait another week or so and then if I still haven't gotten my period go in and get tested?  I've been using the super cheap generic pregnancy test, would using a higher quality test, Clearblue, or something of that sort have an effect?  I'm a healthy 19 year old with no known fertility problems.

Re: Negative test but still don't have my period...

  • Sounds like your clock is broken.  You likely ovulated late.  Wait a few days and test again.  If you get to CD60 with no period, then call your doc.

  • Yes my husband and I are trying and I do track my ovulation hence why I know my cycle numbers and I am very regular with my cycles.  My ovulation happened at the regular interval that it has been while I've been charting.

Me thinks by "charting" you mean counting days.

We, however, mean "charting" as in taking your waking temperature every morning, charting cervical mucus, taking OPK's, etc. Are you doing any of those things?

If not, then you really do not know when you ovulated. Just because you think you're always "regular" doesn't mean you will be this cycle. Things change.

Did you recently go off of BC?

$20 says she tracks through an ovulation calculator...

Seriously OP you could have O'd late.  If you're pregnant enough to have symptoms you're pregnant enough to test positive.  Take a test once per week until you get a positive or AF shows.  If you get to cycle day 60 with no AF call your doctor.  You can learn how to chart through Fertilityfriend.com by clicking on the link in anyone's siggy and I'd definitely recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" to get an idea of how your body works.  What they teach in HS isn't 100% accurate.  Good luck!

I will bet that she is "charting" by using a worthless ovulation calculator.

Seriously OP- you are 19. You have 20+ years to have a child. You haven't even been alive that long. Slow down a little bit.

At 19 the most education you could have is an associates degree, however I am leaning toward you have only completed highschool.

I'm pretty sure my first response was EXTRAORDINARILY helpful - maybe you should go back and re-read it.  Sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear.  And fvck you for bringing up anyone's infertility issues.  That has nothing to do with anything in this thread.  You are uneducated about how your body works.

  • Oh no, I wish you hadn't just said that! Some of the people that responded were nice! Trust me I know how frustrating it is when people point your age out to you as if you didn't know it. I got married about 6 months after graduating from college and dating my bf for 4 1/2 years, but I was 22 and people gave me a really hard time. I'm 25 and people are still giving me a hard time about TTC so "young." I understand completely how annoying it is, and that you didn't ask for their opinion on your age or lifestyle choices, but you were fine until you had to post about infertility! That's such a sensitive topic, more so than you being young, because it isn't a choice! FYI - I've only been TTC for 2 months, so I'm not reacting to something that is a "sore subject" with me, I just know that by writing what you did you really opened yourself up to be bashed! If you are annoyed with what one or two people said, then quote them, but don't address an angry to post to everyone, when not everyone responded rudely!

First of all, people were originally asking you more questions to be able to even answer your "simple" question.  If you're really using fertility friend to chart, you know that no one knows how "late" you could be are based just on how long your cycle is - how many DPO are you??

No one can answer your question about when to test without more information.  If you use FF, link to your chart.  I'm choosing to ignore your incredibly immature and thoughtless b*tchy post about age and infertility.  You have no idea what you're talking about and you're only making yourself look really young and really foolish.

Nope.  If you lurked you'd know that.

Also, using infertility to lash out at the women here is pathetic.  I sincerely hope you never have to go through it.

(Also, keep in mind that you've only been TTC for three months... there is no way of knowing whether you have fertility problems yet. Not that I'd expect a 19 year old to have the insight to understand that yet.)

Hey, as a younger gal in my early 20s, they have no problem with someone younger if they are mature and don't ask stupid questions. Dont leave just because of a little snark. However, pulling the infertlity card seriously shows your immaturity and people will remember that. It is a serious thing that hits close to home to many women. Also saying you age right off the bat doesn't win you many points either. People see 19 and think "highschool kid" sorry but thats the way it is.

If you want to stick around, take what the ladies are saying to heart, and LURK! The bump is not a feel-good-hold-you-hand and sing place. If you want that go to babygaga.com. The women here are awesome if you take time to get educated and get to know them. They have alot of helpful info if you take the time to listen, but you also have to be prepared to take some snark and not take its personally. Its a group of strangers on the internet.

As for the hpt, just keep testing until you period starts or you get a BFP. no one on here can tell you if you are pregnant or not. Good Luck.
