Is ERGO Baby Carrier really worth it?

DH is a penny pincher and I have to justify every purchase to him. Is the ERGO baby carrier really worth it? We have a snugli carrier that someone gave us, but the ergo just looks so sturdy and comfy. DD #2 will probably be our last baby so wondering if it's a good buy ...

Re: Is ERGO Baby Carrier really worth it?

  • Yes.  I use it every day.  I can still fit my 4 year old in it for a hike.

  • I think so, and you can always resell it for ~1/2 price. (or better yet, buy one used!)

  • Worth every penny!  I had a cheap carrier and it did a number on my back.  Hurt every time I used it.  I figured the cost of 1.5 massages to work out my back pain was the cost of the Ergo.  Once I got it, I loved it!  And it's so much better for your baby's hips.
  • yes it's worth it. check craigs list and once upon a child to find it used, i did and use it all the time!

If you are interested in getting one wait just a little bit.  I got mine from babysteals.com a few months ago for an amazing price.  I got an organic one for $70 and they had a regular one for $60.  They let us know a few days ago that they will be featuring them again soon.  If you add babysteals.com as a friend on facebook you get the inside loop as to whats going on.  A lot of the time the night before they give you a clue to what they will feature the next day.  The clue the night before the Ergos last time was " we have an amazing steal tomorrow, and your husband's won't be an OGRE about the price"  So many people found out about it that we crashed the site when they loaded them up.  We thought they would sell out super fast but they ended up having so many they were available all day and they spent two straight weeks shipping them out.  If I were you I would look into babysteals.com  It will make you and your DH both happy.  :)
  • Thanks aew82, I get the baby steal alerts in my email so I'll be on the lookout, I was wondering if baby steals was a scam? It seems that you had a positive experience with them? No problems?

    Thanks!

    Worth every penny.
  • Oh yes.  It's worth every single penny.  Look at Ebay, I got mine cheaper off of there.
  • Totally worth it!

  • I am wondering the same thing!  There is also a new carrier out called the boba G2 which also looks very comfy!  My daughter loves to be carried, and I did find an ergo on craigslist, but didn't buy it in time!

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I hope you see this.  Babysteals.com is not a scam at all.  I've only have great experiences with them.  Once you get into it, it can be addicting.  They feature so many great products, and my DD is the proud owner of a lot of them.  We've gotten Robeez, Stonez Boots, Babylegs, Ju Ju Be Diaper Bags, super cute hats, etc.  They have super fast shipping as well.  When they had the Ergos I ordered it on Thursday morning and had mine on Saturday.  They customer service is amazing.  How many times do you contact a company and have the owner and founder get back to you within the hour, sometimes within minutes.

Oh, just a heads up.  Don't rely in the e-mail.  They send it out when the new item goes up but it depends on your server and cookies and things when you actually get it.  A lot of moms complain that they don't get their e-mail until after the item is sold out.  It's better to just check the item when it goes up which I believe is 9 MST.  I live in MA so it's 11am for me.

They are very reliable as well.  If they say they are going to have Ergo's soon then they are. The Ergo company was amazed by how many they sold the last time they had them so they've agreed to work with them again.  They actual have had the Ergo diaper changing pads that attach to the Ergo (if you check the RSS feeds I think they might still be available.

If you check out the pictures on their facebook page they have pictures of everything they've sold so you can get an idea of what they have.

I hope this helps, feel free to e-mail me at aew82@yahoo.com if I can help you with anything else :)

  • I love my Ergo.  I used my CC points for an amazon GC and bought it that way.
