I've been trying to stock up on water, but that's about as far as I've gotten. Is anyone super prepared? Does anyone have a link of where I can go to start on this (it's on my to-do list).
When the H1N1 pandemic first broke out, I panicked and started prepping. We had plenty of bottled water, batteries, plenty of extra shelf-stable foods, Thera-flu, etc. in case we all got sick. Yes, I admit to a total case of paranoia and a giant over-reaction. In the end, we DID all get H1N1, and I was happy that no one had to go out for Thera-flu, Tylenol or the like, and that Mike only had to make one run to the store for things like milk, bread, eggs, etc.
We've used a lot of the things we bought, so we definitely are not prepped for a stay in the house for a two weeks kind of emergency. If there were a hurricane headed for Texas, I'd definitely be among those at the store buying supplies, but I wouldn't feel like I was starting from scratch, if that makes sense.

This statement and the crowd that ensues at the local HEB always make me curious. We live in Austin. We are more than five hours inland.
Re: Emergency preparedness?
Nada. I suck. I'm one of those people trying to get the last gallon of Ozarka and a roll of TP at Walmart at 2am before the storm.

Here's something pretty basic:

What exactly are people in Austin preparing for?
