  • I really like it. In fact, I suggested Gemma to DH a few days ago, but he vetoed it.

  • I adore the name Gemma.  I didn't realize it was Italian.  I thought it was British.  Either way, I love it.
  • A lot of people are going to see it and have an instant association with Aunt Jemima and the syrup lady.

HMM that never once passed my mind!

    uh, that's a stretch.

  • It's nms, but I don't think it is awful. I wouldn't use it though because I am not a fan of siblings with names that are too similar. Giada and Gemma are too similar for my taste.

I love that...Giada and Gemma. As a matter of fact the other name we are throwing around is Guiliana. I don't see an issue with 2 sister's name starting with the same letter.

Uh, no it's not.  Do some google research.  Gemma/Jemma is totally a nickname for Jemima.

didn't even come to mind... then again, the only Jemima I've ever seen is the syrup bottle.

I would prefer guiliana  to gemma.  but it's nice.  nms... but nice.

  • Love it.  And I like those matchy names.  Of course half my Italian family haas a John and a Joe or a Mike and Mark.
  • I knew 2 growing up...so that colors my opinion.

    anything is better than giuliana.

    even fartsack.

also, I don't see why anyone would associate Mrs. butterworth's with Gemma, gibs. that's a stretch, you little ding dong. Does mom make you a lot of pancakes to eat while you watch cartoons in the morning?

  • Personally, I don't like Gemma or Guiliana. They both are too "matchy" with your DD's name. Gemma makes me think of barbie's friend Gem. LOL NMS, neither one. Sorry.
