I bought a doppler from Amazon and it came in the mail today. Even though I know it's early to find a HB with the doppler I still had to try it out. And I found the HB twice tonight!!! It was really quiet but very fast. The HR reading was bouncing all around between 120 and 150. DH and I only heard it for about 10 seconds each time before LO swam away. So cool to hear!! I think I'm going to become obsessed now...

I'm going to use it every day!

Re: Found the HB on my doppler!
Is it safe to use all the time? I thought you were supposed to limit usage?
That's cool though! I'm tempted to get one to help alleviate my stress, but then I figure if I for some reason can't find it because I'm not a professional and it doesn't work for some reason it will freak me out and make me more anxious!
these are great and fun to have, but I want to throw a warning out ladies.. DO NOT let them over ride your judgement or instinct or anything!!! there are alot of accounts of women who sence that their baby is not moving as much(later on in pregnancy ofcorse) but they use the home doplar and find a strong heartbeat and assume it's nothing.. if you ever sence a problem EVER DO NOT GO TO THE DOPLAR!! GO TO THE ER!!! a baby with a strong heart beat can still be a baby in distress. technology is great so long as it never replaces a mother's instincts! (alot of the time the woman is hearing her own pulse in a blood vessel or even digestive sounds and assumes it's a strong heartbeat too)
also be aware that some days you'll find theheartbeat right away.. sometimes you wont be able to find it.. I dont have a doplar for just that reason, i couldnt live through the anxiety of not being able to find that little beat.?
aside from that, have fun checkin out your kiddos
I'm pretty sure it's safe in moderation...haven't read anything to suggest otherwise. I'm not planning on using it every day. But, since we only heard the HB for 10 seconds the first time, we thought we'd try again. My BF has one and uses it several times a week and her doctor said it's fine.

I was surprised to find it this early but I'm pretty sure it was the baby since I found my own HB also. My HB was VERY slow. The baby's HB was quite fast and very faint...and also hard to find. I also listened to some examples of a fetal HB on youtube and this sounded just like it.
