anyone have a Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair?

image

this is our last BR "gear" purchase.  I registered for a less expensive highchair but since we did not get it and will be purchasing our own I would like to go with my first choice.  (I have been stalking CL for this chair - hope something comes up over the summer).

Back in college I occasionally babysat for a family that had 3 under 5 and two of them were using these highchairs.  I loved them and always wanted this highchair.

I have read many reviews - all positive.  But then I came across this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB7V7HDYAtQ (in case my link doesn't work)

that totally scares me.  The company has been making the seats for 30+ years and never had a recall (that I can find).  The website says the chair should push back and does include an attachment to prevent tipping (which the people on the video are not using) but still...

anyone have any experience?

  • I came thisclose to buying one, but when we went to the store and looked at the different high chairs we ended up buying the Svan.

  • we don't have this one but we have the svan as well. i got it when it was $150-something on mamabargains...they've had it on there a few times but i'm not sure if they'll be having it again? from what i can tell of the svan it doesn't seem to tip easily even though it has a small footprint.
  • Sorry, don't have that one. We have this one -- got it on sale.
  • We got this as a gift and the gifter had really great things to say about it. MH's friend has one as well and he said they don't have any problems with it tipping over but he said it's hard to get the baby in and out once you put the infant rail in it. We decided to keep it (we didn't register for a high chair) and had to buy the rail and the cushion. It's not cheap!

Robbi, i have to say that i have no problems getting A in and out of her svan high chair. not sure if that's b/c she is petite or what..but just wanted to let you know since you might be considering both chairs

thanks (and thanks to all the other PPs as well).

I need to check to see if there is a retailer that might have both on display (I'm sure there is somewhere in Seattle and we are heading up that way to pick MIL up from the airport on Monday).  Jack is pretty big for his age(slender but tall) so the in/out issue is definitely something to consider.

I know I want something that can slide up to the table but it might be nice to also have the option of a tray come standard.
