NBR: I hate snooze!

Ok I am not working now so I have no reason to get up early. But I am up early today. DH has his alarm set at 5 am and he loves to snooze which goes off again every 5 min! So soon as I fall back asleep I am awake again! IF he ever gets up the first time without snoozing, I have no problem falling back asleep. Usually he gets up by the 3rd snooze. And showers and I don't wake up till 5:45 am when he kisses me goodbye and goes to work. I fall back asleep and dont' wake up till 9 or even 9:30 sometimes. Since I am so early here today you can imagine what happened. He snoozed and snoozed till 5:25 am and didn't get up so my own snooze kept going off in my head to get him off the bed. I get worried that he will go to work late and one of this days his work is going to tell him sorry we don't think you should come to work anymore. AND that would be my worst nigihtmare! After the 3rd snooze if he doesn't get up, I am awake and can't fall back asleep. I try to let him sleep cuz I know he is so tired but if I fall back asleep he won't get up either till its 6 or later if he turns the snooze off. He went to work at 6:45 am today.

Though his normal time to report to work is between 7 & 8, he has a really nice boss and doesn't mind if he goes to work early as long as he gets his 8 hrs in! DH usually does go to work during normal hours during the rest of the year but its sports season so he gets up early to go to work so he can be at school to coach his kids. Which is all fine and dandy as long as I get my sleep I am not cranky! I already get up at 3 am to go pee every night and then again at 5 because of him so I am just sooo tired that sometimes I can't help but keep sleeping till 10:30 am! So when I finally get some rest guess who is not sleepy at 10 pm when DH is passing out! Yes, I am proud of DH and all his hard work (he got assistant coach of the year award! YAY!) but I can't wait till he is back to normal schedule!! For all you moms know once the  newborn is here in sept we really won't get any sleep!

Re: NBR: I hate snooze!

  • Well... I am a snoozer.  I hit mine at least 3 times.  Guess it isn't that big a deal with my DH though, since he would sleep through a hurricane I think!  He he.  FWIW for me the snooze is the way I can gradually wake up.

This is me, too. C doesn't have to get up as early as I do, he gets up at 6:30 to help me get toddler C out the door and my alarm goes off at 5. I snooze until 5:27 (9 minute intervals, I hate how random that is). He's never mentioned it being an issue, but if he did complain about my snooze habit when I'm the one who has to get up early every day he would get a giant STFU from me.

  • wow.. I didn't realize this gradual waking up thing. Like I said, once my sleep is broken, I am done. I can fall back asleep within 10 or 15 min but i am not a 5 min frequent napper like him at all! I am also a sensitive sleeper I guess. Yrs ago when I used live with parents, I worked nightshift and during the day when I am sleeping, my dad was changing oil from one of cars and brought the plastic bowl in the house and I woke up thinking i was in a gas station and the smell drove me nuts and walked around to find the source. My dad looked so baffled.. he thought I was sleep walking! Another time he turned the AC off or down and woke me up too!

I am also a snooze-a-holic and this is my way of waking up each morning.

And my alarm clock can't ever be on the right time or I'll be late.  It's usually 30-60 minutes ahead of the normal time (right now it says 9:25).  For some reason, this helps me get out of bed at the right time.  I don't get it either.
