My insurance office people are fcuking stupid.

Back in September I called to add H and his vehicle to my insurance because it was going to be cheaper than how we had it.

So I just called today to remove H's old vehicle and add the new one that his dad is giving us.

The dumb cvnt in September didn't change my name and just made my DAD the insured one on the policy and tacked DH on there as an owner (but not a driver).

FFS.  That means DH has been uninsured for 9 fcuking months!

I had a bit of a panic attack on the phone and the lady I was talking to said she'd fix it today.

    Insurance follows the car - so as long as he is driving a car that is insured, he is also "insured".  It doesn't matter if he is actually on the policy or not.

    In NC the driver also has to be insured.  Doesn't matter if they are insured through the same company/policy as the car they drive, but they must be insured as well.

    Legally, this is true, but worst case senario...If he were in an accident with your vehicle and not listed as a driver, the claim would still be paid, he would just have to prove that he was listed on another policy at the time or he would be added to your policy effective the date of the accident.  The only thing NCDMV really tracks is the vehicle.

    ETA: I'm an insurance agent in NC

    I agree with you.  When we bought my new CRV, and paid cash for it, I called and asked for my old car to be dropped etc.  They dropped the old one, added the new one but kept the freaking loan info from my stratus.  When I decided that the dumb twat on the phone was not comprehending that people can and do pay cash for vehicles- I went into the office.  Got it straightened out and had to walk out when she kept insisting that I needed to purchase life insurance.  WTF even if I was considering it, I would NEVER buy anything from her.
