bladder spams, normal?

In case anyone doesn't know what a bladder spasm is, pretty much it looks like my lower stomach is a big ole knot, and it hurts and is very uncomfortable. I went to the hospital about two weeks ago or a few days more and was diagnosed with it they said that bc my uti was so bad that, that's what was causing the spasms and once the infection went away they would stop. Well they gave me an extra dose of ann antibiotic shot and antibiotics to take at home every 6 hours. I've been doing that but still have the spasms, but more often at night it nearly stays "knotted up" like. I mentioned it to the nurses at my doctor and my doctor, the nurse just told me to all to the doctor. He told me that it's usually normal and that it's probably bc the baby is still trying to come all the way over my bladder(I'm 14 1/2 weeks) and he didn't really seem too concerned about it however, I guess he doesn't realize that it's very uncomfortable and a lot of the time painful. I can't lay on my back or even half way in my belly and sometimes after using the bathroom I can't even sit up straight and have to stay crouched over bc of it hurting. I'm wondering if maybe I should get a second opinion on it, or if anyone has had this before and has found something to help make it less painful or at least a little more comfortable to deal with? I'm having to go back to the doctor next week and the week after, I'm going to mention this problem again, but until then is there anything I could do for it?

Hmm... I don't have any advice, never heard of this.... but I really hope you feel better soon!!!  Must be so scary and uncomfortable!  I would say it doesn't hurt to get the second opinion from a doctor if it just doesn't seem right to you... again I hope you feel better soon! I'll be praying for you!!

  • There is an over the counter med called pyridium .,... It's down by the Azo / yeast products . Or your doc can call it in so it's cheaper.
  • Ask your doc for it or try Walgreens
  • I had the worst UTI of my life when I was about 6 weeks. I was terrified that there was something wrong with the baby and also went to the hospital. They said it was a UTI and gave me antibiotics. 2 weeks later there was still no relief. I went to my OB and she put me on a different antibiotic and still no relief. It wasn't until she put me on a third different antibiotic that I took every six hours that I was finally able to kick that damn UTI.
It was absolutely the worst pain of my life but the one thing that really helped with that was the AZO cranberry pills. They are pregnancy approved and help to keep your urinary tract healthy. They also really help with the pain!
Warning though: make sure you wear panty liners because the cranberry pills turn your urine an orange/red color and you will ruin your undies if you need or have any leakage.
Best of luck in getting relief!!!
