pee diapers- how do you know?

I know this is really dumb, but how do you know if the diapers have pee in them.  Sometimes they are really heavy, so I know.  But I suspect I also end up throwing out  and changing some un-peed ones.

Are they always heavy after the pee? I miss the indicator lines of pampers and have switched to luvs now.

Sorry about the dumb question....I should have figured it out by now. LOL

I still can't tell.  When LO pees on the table its clear and there's no smell. So I'm sure I'm missing some pee diapers.

I ebf and I think the really 'heavy' ones are the liquid poop AND pee (not just pee)

  • Diaper usually feels fat (kind of firm feeling), warmer than normal or extra heavy.  Since we are using the pamper's with dry max you cant really smell the pee though.

  • I smell it, and when I change DS his diaper is discolored - when it's dry the inside of the diaper is bright white. (We use Pampers Swaddlers)
  • I squeeze the front of the diaper and if it's squishy then it's wet.  I can also smell it.

  • We use Pampers Swaddlers and there is a yellow line on the outside that turns green when he's peed. It's a genius feature for new parents- we would have constantly been checking and changing without it.

  • We use huggies and they have a yellow line that changes to blue to indicate that it's a wet diaper. It has made my life so much easier as a new parent!
  • There's a bulge in the front.  I don't change her until it gets big in the front.  If you actually open the diaper, and you can't see the yellow, just smell it.  You can definitely tell then.

  • I guess I don't really know when he pees. I just change him when I know he needs it or every 1 1/2 - 2 hours, whichever comes first. He's got a lot of pee in him so when he goes I can feel it. His pee doesn't smell so that doesn't help me. On occasion I'll wonder if he's peed and touch the diaper. I always immediately regret doing it. Why the heck would I willingly stick my hand in pee? I don't know.
