Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Am I being pushy-rude-overprotective?

Hi, everyone,

I almost never post, but I'm bugged by something and need advice.  We will be spending four months working in Europe, and bringing our two girls along.  The younger one will be 13 months old when we arrive in August.  Our work agreed to buy us a crib for the housing they have for us, but last week they sent us a picture of what they had in mind for us.  It's a Pack n Play. They hadn't bought it yet.

After a lot of thought, I wrote them and basically said "no, that's not a crib, that's a Pack n Play.  I want a crib."  I hate to be pushy, but I'm worried about the comfort issue (or even back problems) after four straight months of sleeping in a Pack n Play.  Was I being too demanding?  (I also told them I would be MORE than happy to pay the difference in price between the Pack n Play and a crib, so I don't know what I'm upset about...)

  • My DS uses a PnP and sleeps just fine. He has been sleeping in it for 9 months and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have any pains from sleeping in it.

As far as being pushy, maybe a little bit. But if you really want a crib then you should get a crib, not a PnP.

  • No, definitely not too demanding.  If they said they'd buy you a crib, you should get a crib.

Probably the person doing the buying had no clue.

I think your response was appropriate. I wouldn't let my child sleep in a PnP for that long either. Hopefully you get a favorable response.

And yay for working in Europe. What an awesome opportunity!
