Infertility

***MFI Check In***

MFI Weekly Check In

This group is for those of us dealing with male factor issues.   We
welcome everyone but mostly we are dealing with low count, motility, morphology or all three.  Male infertility is a mysterious world filled with questions no one, including REs, urologists, acupuncturists or anyone else seem to have the answers to.  Any treatment suggested is a coin toss for success and a 3 month wait for a fresh batch of swimmers. Most of us are told the only answer is IUI or IVF w/ICSI.  The purpose of this group is to support each other through shared experiences and to share any info we can because the more informed we are the better.   We have a check in every Sunday night/ Monday morning but I will try to post a link later in the afternoon/evening also.  Welcome and baby dust to all!

QOTW: Since everyone's talking about it....did you watch the Lost finale? What did you think of the ending?

As always, give an update as well! :)

Re: ***MFI Check In***

  • Update: IVF #2 is a BFN. I have a beta today to confirm, but I'm 13dp3dt and have been testing negative all weekend....so I'm not hoping for a miracle BFP. Needless to say, it was a very sad weekend.

QOTD: I actually only watched season 1 of Lost back in the day, so I did not watch the finale. But it's been fun to hear everyone else get excited for it.

  • May I come play as well? Had the confirmation SA on Friday. Low everything- none of the numbers were normal- or even low end of normal. The RE is leaning towards one of his parents having had a translocation (History of recurrent miscarriage in MIL) and thus an inherited genetic problem on his end (I haven't been ovulating so there's no miscarriage history for us to test the theory) but we're testing FSH and testosterone as well as a karyotype to cover our bases. We were recommended towards IVF with ICSI, the RE calling an IUI pointless with his counts and an IVF without ICSI gambling.

On one hand, we're hoping it's not genetic- can't "fix" that and it might carry down again. On the other hand- if it's not fixable we'll spend less time and money trying to find solutions for lower tech treatments.

I wish the worst news had been a problem with me- I'd been ready for that. DH isn't taking it well.

QOTW: Saw it. It was better than I had expected, less satisfying than I had hoped.

  • I haven't been very active in this check in lately, because I feel like our MFI is way overshadowed by my egg issues now. But, I wanted to pop in to say I am so sorry about your BFN Hillary. It is so unfair.  I'm thinking about you.

  • QOTW: Since everyone's talking about it....did you watch the Lost finale? What did you think of the ending?

Didn't watch any episode, heard the finale was good though.

Update: I have an upcoming appointment w/ my RE to see why I stopped ovulating and DH motility went up from 4% to 32% thanks to clomid. But its always something this month has just been bad for me emotionally.

  • Update: DH's season officially ended on Saturday so now we just have to get through the three weeks of camp that is coming up and then we can cycle again! YAYAYAY!

QOTW: Nope, I've never watched a single second of Lost..

TTC #1 since June 2008 *SAIFW*

TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs

  • Update: DH has consult on June 1st and we will find out a surgery date then. About 2-3 weeks after the consult is what we were told.

I had my 2nd C/P last week so I may take a cycle or 2 off while he's getting surgery and recovering.

QOTW: Never watched a single minute of it.

  • Update: BFN for IVF #2. Boo. WTF is scheduled for tomorrow. Hoping to get some answers and cycle in July or August.

QOTW: Never got into Lost... in fact, I don't think I've even watched one episode. Now, Tudors... that's a whole other story!

  • Congrats to wiscgirl again! And big ((hugs)) to those that need them today.

Update: still waiting for AF to see if cycling for IUI#5 will work. We have a TON of things scheduled for the weekends in June and July so we'll have to wait and see... I hope so, I kind of want to just get it over with already!

QOTW: I don't watch Lost but kind of wish I would have!

  • Hillaree, I am so sorry to hear about your cycle.

Update: We are in the middle of our FET cycle and transfer will be on Sunday. My lining is on the thin side still, so I am doing everything I can to get it up to par by then. I just need everything to go right.

QOTW: We  have always been fans, but have not watched this season at all. It is saved up on DVR for a bedrest marathon! :)

  • Hilaree, so sorry to hear about your BFN.

Update: We are waiting and hoping that DH's surgery worked and his counts will go up. We are planning to start with IUI in July if his numbers are good enough for it.

QOTW: I have never watched Lost, I was watching the Apprentice finale last night!

Hilaree and Roselln - So sorry about your BFN :(

QOTW - I haven't watched a single episode of lost.. but I've heard it is good!

    Update - Starting stims today!!!!

  • I haven't been very active lately on this check-in either, because we are on hold with treatments indefinitely. But I've been rooting for you and praying for you, Hillaree, and wanted to let you know I'm sorry this IVF didn't work out. I'm can't imagine how frustrating that is.

I didn't watch Lost, really ever, so I didn't watch the finale either. Seems like most people weren't satisfied with it.

TTC since 2008 DX severe MFI due to chemo IVF w/ ICSI recommended Planning on IVM at McGill in Fall 2011
  • Not much to update on me - have an initial consult with a possible new RE (DR. Peters with SIRM) on Thursday.... thinking i don't want to use my current RE now that we're on to IVF (not getting good vibes working with her and she has said/done some things that make me upset).  Fingers crossed the appt goes well and i get a game plan!

QOTW: Didn't watch the finale - i actually had tried to watch lost a while back once or twice when visiting my mom (she watches)... but got so confused i gave up... sounds like the ending was interesting though.
