Carter's Baby Clothes?

Has anyone else noticed that Carter's clothes seem to run bigger for their size?  Or is it just my imagination?  Baby isn't here yet so I guess I can't be sure until I try them on her but just looking at them next to some of the other brands I've got, they seem quite a bit bigger.

Re: Carter's Baby Clothes?

  • I felt like Carter's was one of the better quality brands and therefore had enough of them to make them my standard of sizing. So I felt like they were dead on. DD was a little smaller in the first year (40-50% for weight and 60% height) so she could stay in certain sizes a little longer, but overall, they were very accurate. There are many brands that run very small. Coincidentally, I found the Just One Year brand by Carter's but for Target runs very small, as does Gerber and a few others. Baby Gap runs a little big I thought. Gymboree is very true to size, maybe a tiny bit large in a room-to-grow way.

I find that the Carter's clothes are short. I think they shrink a bit with each washing. In my opinion they are not the best quality. My son is tall and thin though, so I prefer Baby Gap and Gymboree sizing more.

This pretty much exactly.  I would say that Baby Gap, Old Navy and Children's Place all run just a teeny bit big.

Truth is that YOUR baby is going to be shaped differently than mine (most likely) and you will find what clothes fit best for you.  My DS is VERY long torso-ed, he's "tall" but it's all in the torso, so he needs shorter skinny pants and longer shirts...makes the shopping tricky for sure.

  •  I LOVE Carters clothes- I think they run pretty true to size- DD is 5 months old and her 6 month Carters stuff fits her really good- with a little room to grow. I think Gymboree runs BIG- she can still wear her 0-3 stufff from there. Old Navy, and BabyGap I think run true to size. But all babies are different.

  • I love Carters as well.  They run pretty true to size.

  • I like Carter's clothes, they are cute, not expensive and hold up well. That being said, I think they run small. My DD is 50% for height and she's just about too long for carter's sleepers and she's not even 5 months yet.
