I guess this apartment is gonna get us ready for our baby waking us up all through the night.. we slept horrible.
We are in the very back of the complex and our windows face the highway which is about 100 ft, give or take, away.. the windows are like plastic wrap because we can hear everything outside. We feel like we slept in a motel.. a crappy one. And the guy upstairs who feels the need to stomp around is a real charm too.
I had to keep telling myself soon Mikaela will be here waking us up every 2 hours at least, so these noises won't matter. Well, I'm gonna make the best of things and have fun unpacking today. At least this is our own place and DF's messy friend doesn't live with us anymore! :-)
Re: First night sleeping in new apartment = terrible!
That stinks. Our first apartment in San Diego was downtown right by the train tracks. The trains would come through at night and blast their horns and the sound would bounce between the buildings, which made it impossible to get a night of uninterrupted sleep.
Just keep focusing on the positive! Happy unpacking today

Mouseygail: OH YEAH! DF has to sleep with a fan on and the bathroom fan doesn't work so we're getting one over the weekend! Haha - good idea :-)

I had the opposite. I just moved from a noisy downtown apt to one that is super quiet... I couldn't sleep due to lack of noise! (my partner actually wanted to record the sounds from the old neighborhood to be able to sleep. LOL!)
give it a few days... you should adjust. I think the same happens anywhere - you sleep over a friends house and their fridge startles you, neighbors making noise, etc... but when it's your home, you adjust and learn to block it out.
I hope you get settled in your new place quickly!
